Tass News: The first blast happened at the city's central Lubyanka station. A second explosion happened at the Park Kultury station.

Two (2) blasts at two (2) different stations in this news report. Let's see if that changes and all of a sudden there is only one (1) blast and the cause of the blast is heavily 'modified'.

“41 DEAD IN MOSCOW SUBWAY DOUBLE BLAST - TERRORISM PROBE BEGUN
28 March 2010”

SNIPPET: “At least 41 people have been killed and scores more injured as two explosions ripped through the Moscow metro at the height of rush hour this morning.

The first blast at the Lubyanka station in central Moscow happened at 0756 (0356 GMT) as thousands of passengers were packed onto trains.

The headquarters of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), successor to the Soviet-era KGB, is located just above the station.

“The blast hit the second carriage of a metro train that stopped at Lubyanka,” Russian emergencies ministry spokeswoman Irina Andrianova said.

Russian prosecutors said they had launched a “terrorism probe” after the two blasts.”

Prayers up for the victims and their families, very little sympathy for their leaders, who have been playing with fire in Iran and elsewhere. This isn’t the Cold War anymore, fellows, and if you dance with the devil you’ll find you won’t be calling the tune.

“Tokyo marks 15th anniversary of subway gas attack”

By TOMOKO A. HOSAKA
The Associated Press
Saturday, March 20, 2010; 6:22 AM

SNIPPET: “TOKYO — Tokyo subway workers observed a moment of silence Saturday to mark the 15th anniversary of a nerve gas attack by a religious cult, Japan’s deadliest act of domestic terrorism.

About 20 employees at Kasumigaseki station in Tokyo’s government district bowed their heads in silent prayer at 8 a.m., when members of the cult released sarin nerve gas in rush-hour trains on March 20, 1995. The five coordinated attacks killed 13 people and sickened 6,300 others.”

Double suicide bombings kill 37 on Moscow subway

MOSCOW — Two female suicide bombers blew themselves up on Moscow’s subway system as it was jam-packed with rush-hour passengers Monday, killing at least 37 people and wounding 102, officials said.

The head of Russia’s main security agency said preliminary investigation places the blame on rebels from the restive Caucasus region that includes Chechnya, where separatists have fought Russian forces since the mid-1990s.

The first explosion took place just before 8 a.m. at the Lubyanka station in central Moscow. The station is underneath the building that houses the main offices of the Federal Security Service, or FSB, the KGB’s main successor agency.

A second explosion hit the Park Kultury station about 45 minutes later.

Emergency Minister Sergei Shoigu said the toll was 37 killed and 102 injured, but he did not give a breakdown of casualties at each station, according to Russian news agencies.

“I heard a bang, turned my head and smoke was everywhere. People ran for the exits screaming,” said 24-year-old Alexander Vakulov, who said he was on a train on the platform opposite the targeted train at Park Kultury.

“I saw a dead person for the first time in my life,” said 19-year-old Valentin Popov, who had just arrived at the station from the opposite direction.

In a televised meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev, Federal Security Service head Alexander Bortnikov said body fragments of the two bombers pointed to a Caucasus connection. He did not elaborate.

“’Black Widow’ female suicide bombers kill 37 in Moscow metro blasts”
By BILL ROGGIOMarch 29, 2010 7:36 AM

SNIPPET: “Two female suicide bombers detonated their vests during morning rush hour at metro stations in Moscow, killing 37 people and wounding 65 more. The attack was carried out by the Caucasus Emirate’s ‘Black Widows,’ and was foreshadowed by the leader of the terror group in a statement in February.

The first suicide bomber detonated at the Lubyanka metro station at 7:52 a.m. local time, killing 24 people, according to RIA Novosti. The Lubyanka station is near the headquarters of the Federal Security Service (FSB), the successor of the notorious KGB.

The second blast took place about 40 minutes later, at the Park Kultury station, which is near the Kremlin, killing 13 people.

The FSB said that an estimated four kilograms of explosives was used in the first suicide attack and 1.5 kilograms was used in the second.

“At present the overall number of the dead as a result of the explosions at the Park Kultury and Lubyanka metro stations is 37, and another 65 were wounded,” Irina Adrianova, the spokeswomen for the Ministry for Emergency Situations told ITAR-TASS.”

SNIPPET: “The Black Widows are a unit within the members of the Riyad-us-Saliheen, or Garden of Paradise, martyr brigade.”

From The Times
March 31, 2010
“Moscow fears tide of Black Widows”
Tony Halpin, Moscow

SNIPPET: “Russian security services were hunting for more “Black Widows” yesterday amid fears that the women who blew themselves up in the Moscow Metro were part of a 30-strong suicide squad trained by a Chechen terrorist leader.

Agents from the Federal Security Service (FSB) believe that the women were avenging the death of Said Buryatsky, the leading ideologue of the Islamist rebels in the North Caucasus, who was killed this month in Ingushetia.”

SNIPPET: “Buryatsky, a Muslim convert who was born Alexander Tikhomirov, was among six militants killed in an FSB operation in Ingushetia on March 2. The Kremlin described him then as the mastermind behind a bomb attack on the Nevsky Express train between Moscow and St Petersburg that killed 26 and wounded 100 in November.

He was also blamed for the suicide bombing that almost succeeded in assassinating Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, Ingushetia’s President, last June and the attack in August that devastated the main police station in Nazran, the Ingush capital, killing 20 officers.”

By BILL ROGGIO

Video Caption: “Doku Umarov takes responsibility for the March 29, 2010, suicide attacks in Moscow.”

SNIPPET: “The leader of the Caucasus Emirate has claimed responsibility for the March 29 suicide attacks in the Russian capital of Moscow that killed 39 people.

Doku Umarov, the emir of the al Qaeda-linked Caucasus Emirate, took credit for the suicide attack in a video released on the Internet. The video was published on Youtube by Kavkaz Center, the pro-jihadist website that focuses on the jihad in the Caucasus. Umarov previously described Kavkaz as “our Mujahideen website, the State website.””
