Apparently there are allegations, and he admits that it’s true, but he rectified/paid back, that he used GOP American Express for personal expenses. According to the Miami Herald:
Records show Rubio sent payments to American Express totaling $16,000 for his personal expenses during his tenure as House speaker. But those payments were not made monthly.

To me, this appears like a bunch of nonsense. I know plenty of business owners who do similar things, and even do it by mistake. One summer I was working for a small business, and the business owner accidently charged $21,000 worth of “lingerie” @ Bloomingdales on her business American Express, rather than her personal, which she rectified before the end of the year.

It appears, also, they are complaining because he brought his wife and they paid for his wife to attend things, which seems to be a nonissue to me, too, but what do I know.

The Miami Herald used to be so good in the late 80's I would have it mailed to PA. Their attitude seemed to change over night in the early 90's. Maybe because you quit.

I wrote there part time from 79-91. In 79 it was basically who, what, when, where, etc. basic journalism. By 91 it was so biased I knew I had to quit but really didn't realize why at that point.

The Miami Herald used to be so good in the late 80's

The Herald in the 1980s was basically Cuban Exiles = Bad, Janet Reno and Dade County Democrats = Good. They've been on the left for some time, although their coverage of the Cocaine Cowboys back in the day was pretty good.

The New Times used to have a great columnist named Jim DeFede, who has since gone off the deep end as he gets deeper into middle age.

El Herald I believe was a product of the early 1990s. I knew a guy who wrote for said paper, but left for more lucrative pursuits.

The Herald and the Slum Sentinel were not even fit for dog poop, so most of my SoFla friends get their news from the blogosphere these days.
