Paul Ryan Wins Dallas
The American Spectator ^ | 4.1.10 | William Murchison

(snip)

"A newsman whose memories of political conflict go back, to the '60s thinks to himself this kind of occasion doesn't bear the hallmark of past conservative slumps, say, '74 and '76: partly because the health care came conspicuously in defiance of public opinion; partly because of the energy in the room; partly because so much energy (no government intervention necessary) flows from the tall, young, astoundingly articulate congressman invited to highlight the stakes in the game.

Paul Ryan, to the newsman whose memories of political figures go back to LBJ and Goldwater, looks very much like the real article: the leader conspicuously missing from Republican, much less conservative, affairs this past decade or so. It hurts not a bit that he started in politics as a staffer for Jack Kemp, the king of supply-side economics."

A good read about the mood of Dallas/Fort Worth these days and it looks like Paul Ryan is a rising star around these parts. Like many around FR, I think Ryan is one to keep our eyes on for 2012!

Agreed. His assoc with Kemp doesn’t hurt. Means he really knows what he is talking about.

I think for now I have to back Ryan.

Yup, I think he’s the only one right now that could have Obama’s ass on a plate in a debate. Sorry Sarah, I loves ya, but I don’t think you can win. Just my 2 cents.

I love Paul Ryan, although unfortunately he has stated pretty strongly that he's not interested in the presidency. I love Marco Rubio as well -- he's currently my second fave, but Ryan kicks a little more a$$.

When did he do that? I hope he will reconsider. He reminds me of Reagan in many ways.

Still too young, hasn’t been an executive of anything and desperately needed in Congress. But if he were picked for veep all could fall into place perfectly.

I love Sarah and think she could still win. 2012 is a lifetime away. Time will tell, but I don’t count her out yet. I just fear that the media has made it a hard climb with their assualts, lies and smears. I do like Ryan alot though and have been so impressed by his intellect, values and yes..good looks...lol.

Ryan is worth paying attention to. I just hope he’s not the open border appeaser that Kemp was.

Well he also seems like a guy that knows it aint all about him. If he is asked to serve and run he will serve and run.

I consider Sarah our version of Hillary Clinton, for better or worse, she's just that polarizing. Not her fault by any means, but the people that love her, love her. And of course the people that hate her, really HATE her too. So I think she'd be a tough sale overall. Love to see her in Hillary's job though.

With Obama's much touted intellect (I use the term loosely) Ryan could put paid to that lie in one single debate. The Kid is THAT good! Like you said 2012 is a long way away, so we'll see how it all shakes out!

Yep..he’s Hot..lol..and authentic, smart, humble, quick on his feet. He seems to have the whole package imho. He might be just what this country needs...an solid conservative ‘accountant type’ to get this country back on a sound fiscal footing.

He’s our best bet and has to see that there are too many in front of him for leadership in the Congress for quite some time. He may say he is not interested, but we’ll see what happens in Nov.

Can you imagine him against ol’ Plugs? I think they’d have to call it after the first round!

He would be Obozo’s worst nightmare. He wouldn’t even have to pay the MSM to convince people he has a brain.

I can’t recall how many months ago I first posted about him, but shortly after, Sarah praised him and I was pleased about that.

I’d love to see him with the title Mr. Speaker, but he certainly merits a place on a national ticket and I would have no problem with Paul Ryan at the top!
