This is disgusting....I think of the following verse
Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves;
Mark 11:15
What this church is doing is making a business decision.
They are in effect taking on the “risk” that putting on these prices will attract more people to come, who will of course listen to their message of prosperity-for-you-when-you-give-your-money and give a rich donation.
They calculate that ON THE NET, they will come out FINANCIALLY positive.
*THAT* looks like their main goal.
This has no relationship to the ‘money changers’ in the temple. They were, in a modern day sense, selling ‘offerings’ - come buy a dove for an offering, etc.
