Networks Praise New Fuel Standards, Call Them 'Nothing Short of Historic'

New fuel standards make both the left and the media happy. It's easy to tell. There wasn't a single voice of opposition criticizing the latest act of Big Government on major prime-time news outlets ABC, CBS or NBC.

"Environmentalists are hailing the move as nothing short of historic," NBC's Lee Cowan said of the federal government's new fuel efficiency standards. The networks did much the same. Broad consensus from NBC's "Nightly News" and CBS's "Evening News" reflected praise for the Obama administration's latest regulatory efforts.

The federal government took a historic step April 1 to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. As part of a joint proposal by EPA and Transportation Department officials, the government implemented new fuel efficiency standards for all vehicles.

"This ends a debate that lasted nearly a decade," Cowan kicked-off the "Nightly News" segment. "But now that these so-called ‘clean-car standards' are going to be mandatory across the board, it makes it the first time ever that the federal government has limited greenhouse gas emissions."

Sure, and Zero’s election was also “historic”. Seems like the word “historic” is a synonym for BOHICA.

It says a lot about how we got here that Bush wanted to do this even earlier. d.c. needs to be dug up and plowed under...

Sure, just order more fuel efficiency, like he is ordering lower health care costs.

Then ignore the harm it does.

Let’s see what reaction, if any, they have when the flimsy econobox gutbuckets hit the market and the death rate in auto crashes skyrockets. That’s historic.

I worked in the steel/automotive industries from the marketing side. The media don’t have a clue about the hoops that industry has to jump through to satify the
ch!ckensh!t CAFE requirements.

I wish just 1 of these Car Companies would stand up and say, We will No Longer Sell Cars in the US, we will sell them in Mexico and Pay the Cost for you to transfer title to A State in the US after purchase.

Good news....Your “light” car will get you killed so the government won’t have to worry about a doctor bill. Yup...a win win for govt.

I wonder how these 'journalists' will feel when the federal government limits their news emissions.

Anyone but See-B.S. would realize what a tremendous economic penalty this will be.

Not to mention the safety aspects; the best way to get better fuel economy is to make a car smaller and lighter.
And NHTSA studies have shown conclusively that smaller cars = more fatalities.

Makes me think of Cuba where people drive 50 year old cars because nothing else is available.

Could the law be changed to force all MSM employees to purchase and use only the cars that meet the new standard? Their glee would be short-lived if they had to turn in their SUVs, Mercedes and Beemers and putt around Manhattan in subcompacts.

Soon, very soon, these morons in the media will report, "Today is a very historic day. President Obama has signed an Executive Order nullifying the Constitution."

There will celebrating on air.

Networks Praise New Fuel Standards, Call Them ‘Nothing Short of Historic’

Some NBC News hack (not Lee Cowan) appeared on Larry Kudlow’s
evening show on CNBC.
I thought the guy was going to start saying “Praise Lord Obama,
my personal saviour” when describing the swell of adoration on
the new 2016 fuel standards.

Kudlow gave the hack a bit of flak. But not as much as I would have.

Two things are ignored in the media's skepticism-free reporting:

One, imposing these standards in response to anything having to do with the price of oil ignores the fact that the supply of oil is unchanged-- the price is rising because the market has deemed the dollar worthless.

Sure, just order more fuel efficiency, like he is ordering lower health care costs.

Then ignore the harm it does.

The laws of economics are as immutable as the laws of physics: every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The unintended consequences of this idiot's actions won't be clear until he's long gone; and by the time his butt-licking disciples figure it out, there'll be a republican to blame.

It boggles the mind.

Liberals spend more time protesting and complaining than doing work. Thererfore they earn less. They are envious of those who have the money to buy large cars. The solution is to make it impossible for people to buy large cars.

There, another major problem solved by big government.

When the law of unintended consequences kicks in, Obama’s gonna feel an entirely unexpected version of “historic”.

And I hope I’m sitting on my deck with the Ipad watching his drumming out of office (and hope, hope, out of the country).

He is slime, pure and simple.

And slime must be cleaned out.

Oh, and send Ayers my way when this happens. I have a very special party planned for him.
