Wouldn't both factors have to be true to charm Israel into going along with the "peace" plan the anti-Christ is supposed to bring about impose?
It seems consistent with scripture, while a dopey Anti-Christ or one who is not mesmerizing seems inconsistent. Apparently, you disagree. May I ask why?
The AntiChist, being evil, will understand evil quite well but will most likely draw a blank when it comes to comprehending Goodness and the things that Goodness produces.
Take the free market system for example. It is based on trust (however much enforced by laws), the belief that "the best men and products win" (as opposed to theft and manipulation of markets"), the principle of hard work, and on the principle of "excellence" (as opposed to affirmative action, social "fairness," etc.).
Last but not least, the free markets very much depend on the freedom (and freedom of choice) of its participants.
For his part, Obama cannot seem to fathom the free markets at all. They seem to be a complete mystery to him. Hence his Satanic drive to economically "dominate" not "liberate" his countrymen.
In the final analysis, Obama is plenty smart in terms of understanding the aspects of darker wisdom (evil). He has a wonderful grasp on Alinsky, community organizing, the power of unions, voter intimidation, mass hypnosis, domination of the news media, and, most importantly of all, how to lie with every breath and every word.
As has been said, God wants to liberate man...Satan/Allah/Obama want to make him submit to their domination.
Obama is plenty smart when it comes to implementing his plan to kill American freedom and replace it with his idea of Islamofascist domination.
And he is just getting started.
I don’t think it’s possible for me to detest him more. Seriously, there just isn’t any possibility. He is the most obnoxious, arrogant SOB I’ve ever seen and I consider my country leaderless. We have no President right now.
That said, End-Time Prophecy (as we all know) is intentionally vague but will become quite clear when its time arrives (Daniel and Enoch both were told to lock up their prophecies until a later time). Also, whatever was said about Prophecy and the AC in the last century is most likely dated because of what happened on 9/11 and how the world has since changed.
Going forward...as you say, many who have interpreted Scripture seem to have concluded that Israel will be taken in by the AntiChrist, but what it actually says is that the AC will either make a covenent with Israel or simply honor one already in place, before breaking it in favor of Israel's enemies.
If we look at the events of the last two weeks, we see that Obama is in the very process breaking America's covenant with Israel. And those of us here on FR have no doubt that he will betray Israel in favor of her Islamic enemies.
Of course, perhaps Obama will initiate a new charm offensive and offer Israel a new covenant which she will accept...and he will break at a later date (I don't know).

As an aside, I don't know if Obama is the AC, but he certainly merits close examination. He certainly thinks he is the secular, islamic, leftist messiah. Even Louis Farrakhan called him the Messiah. Considering that Louie is a muslim, I guess he is saying that Obama is the Mahdi or islamic Messiah.
BTW, the Muslim Mahdi or Messiah fits nicely the description of the Judeo/Christian "Prince to Come"/Destroyer or AntiChrist.
What about when Obama gave a speech at Georgetown Universtiy and had the monogram covered up which symbolized Jesus’ name. This really upset me when that happened in 2009. I found it very odd and not right for someone who says he is a christian.
Did he go to church today as was announced he would? Do you know?

Very true and that is why we have people who ARE Fascists calling Republicans and conservatives Fascists while steadfastly denying that they themselves are in fact Fascists. Mussolini’s own definition of Fascist fits Obama and crew perfectly.
Our major problem now is ignorance, we have at least two generations who don’t have a clue about anything to do with history, government, geography, different cultures and religions of the world, don’t even mention business or economics. They have “self esteem” by the truckload though.
