Anti-Toyota propaganda by the obama admin hasn't worked at all among those who are actually familiar with Toyota's cars (i.e. current owners). It would have been helpful if Rasmussen had asked people if their future purchase plans had changed because of the media frenzy.

That’s because Toyota just had a technical problem, GM has a moral and ethical problem. Technical problems are much easier to fix.

Remember the old ad jingle:

"See the USA,
In your Chevrolet
"

Well obama has turned that into:

"SCREW the USA,
WE own Chevrolet.
"

It's amazing. I had become "loyal" to GM, because GM had been loyal to me. But after they were simply stolen from their stockholders by the federal executive branch, to hell with them.

And I simply can't believe the four day yellow sh*t storm Toyota has had to endure hasn't been orchestrated by the Democrat Mafia, and by a public media that chokes on gnats and swallows camels.

The UAW/Government Motors dropped the ball!

They are not using all the resources of the federal government to destroy their competitors.

The IRS needs to invade Toyota ASAP.

I have a good number of family and friends who have used this opportunity to buy a brand new Toyota at discounted deals......they are gleeful at their great buys.

I’d buy a Toyota that was on fire before I’d buy a GM.

My brother-in-law owned an S-10 that blew the engine at relatively low miles. He spent $5k and replaced the engine. The truck was still having problems nickel and dime’ing him to death. Finally traded it in. On what? Another GM, no less! Nice guy, but not the sharpest knife in the drawer obviously.

Is there still an American product people are still loyal to?

“Is there still an American product people are still loyal to?”

Is there an American company that gives their customers a reason to be loyal?

Ford is better, but they had their moments.

I really don’t understand brand loyalty. When it comes to cars we own a ‘94 Toyota pickup (221K mi.), a ‘02 Ford Focus (201K mi.), a ‘06 Chevy HHR (90K mi.) and a ‘09 Honda Fit (16K mi.). They’ve all been great cars for us and worth the investments (I’d have to say “so far” for the Honda), but maybe we are just lucky.

I believe in the Rasmussen poll. My cousin and her husband have been driving Toyotas for ages and have already said that when their present two vehicles finally bite the dust, they will buy Toyotas again.

True story: My cousin’s husband was driving home from work with a few buddies when the roof on his Toyota literally fell off. He and his companions had to backtrack to pick up the roof. The car was so old; I guess the roof had finally rusted out. He actually had the roof fixed and drove the car for some time thereafter. He just did not want to part with his Toyota.

brother-in-law finally traded it in on another GM?

Usually-sharp coworker seems to have a slight GM blind spot, and has a similar story. Full-size Silverado pickup/lunched its transmission/still under warranty/multiple small problems afterward/driving another Silverado now.

Anyone who buys a General Motors product is an enabler of liberal facism and opposition to freedom. I don’t care how good you think a Malibu or Cadillac CTS is, it is not (and never could be) good enough to justify supporting the Marxist takeover of General Motors with our tax dollars.

I'm not talking about just cars either. I mean anything. America needs to be collectively ashamed.

How true.

I bought, brand new, a 1989 Taurus SHO. The first model year. While it had a few bugs it was a great car and I was going to buy another one, then, the COO, or some dill wad, had the style changed, the price increased, and the new 8 cylinder SHO only came with a automatic tranny. When asked about the changes he arrogantly said he didn't care whether the customers liked the changes or not.

I bought a Hyundai and have had that car for 180K miles. I may look at a Ford again but that statement from that nut back in the 1990s sure grated on me to this day. It was typical of a US auto manufacturer.

It was typical of a US auto manufacturer.

I had a 2001 Buick Regal GS (supercharged 3.8 liter). I really liked the car. It did what it was supposed to do, and got me 23-24 mpg daily with my lead foot.

I had to take it in because of a faulty EGR. On top of that, the lower intake manifold gasket was shot.

After spending nearly $2,000 on a fix that shouldn't have cost anywhere near that, especially on a car that was, at the time, only 4 years old and had only 37,000 miles on it (one year and 1,000 miles out of the 3/36 warranty), I really got pissed when the service rep told me "Well, they're designed to fail." I called Buick corporate on that. Told them they guaranteed I'd never buy another Buick, nor would anyone else in my extended family.

I own a 2010 Toyota Tundra CrewMax Limited. I will never buy any other brand.

I will NEVER buy a car from Obama Motors. Preferably, I'll buy a U.S. Made car, probably a Honda Accord made in Marysville, OH. I particularly will also be looking for any car NOT made by Union Motors of any brand.

I’m in the rather large group that will never buy GM for as long as that company exists. I disapprove of fascism, and when TARP and Bailout passed, a whole lot of companies went onto my permanent boycott list. Government Motors is dead to me.
