Obama's disregard for media reaches new heights at nuclear summit
Washington Post ^ | Tuesday April 13, 2010 | Dana Milbank

World leaders arriving in Washington for President Obama's Nuclear Security Summit must have felt for a moment that they had instead been transported to Soviet-era Moscow.

They entered a capital that had become a military encampment, with camo-wearing military police in Humvees and enough Army vehicles to make it look like a May Day parade on New York Avenue, where a bicyclist was killed Monday by a National Guard truck.

In the middle of it all was Obama -- occupant of an office once informally known as "leader of the free world" -- putting on a clinic for some of the world's greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press.

The only part of the summit, other than a post-meeting news conference, that was visible to the public was Obama's eight-minute opening statement, which ended with the words: "I'm going to ask that we take a few moments to allow the press to exit before our first session."

Reporters for foreign outlets, admitted for the first time to the White House press pool, got the impression that the vaunted American freedoms are not all they're cracked up to be.

Reporters, even those on the White House beat for two decades, said it was the most restricted set of meetings they had ever seen in Washington.

People think this will put the media off. Not only is that wrong, but the truth is the opposite; they will say these slights actually show his steady hand —that it shows he’s fully comfortable being in charge.

Like Jimmy Carter, as long as a dictator states he’s against “The Establishment”, well that makes him good.

This will NOT upset the media.

The media is like a battered wife. 0 slaps them around a bit and they come back for more, desiring him more than ever.

And never a word about 17% unemployment either. NOT A WORD. And they wonder why their ratings are in the tank.

Obama’s dictatorship on display, total disregard for the First Ammendment. We live in some dangerous times indeed.

Unlike the historical recordings of Hitlers rise to power, we must pray and act that historians will not reflect on this time and ask How a people with so much freedom as those in the USA had, failed to see the evil for what it was developing right under their very eyes.

This might just do the trick. MSM has been absent for ever. If Milbank is angry, others are also. Hopefully they will start doing some digging rather than waiting around for nothing.

I am looking for someone to say who he was really meeting with during that pretend soccer game.

"...and pressing Obama on the failure to curb North Korea's weapons."

The reporting on this is a surprise. The president said before this that sanctions on North Korea were working, and was left speechless when a reporter challenged him on that. What a buffoon. Not the reporter...

You hit the nail on the head!

Congratulations Dana Shitbank! It only took you 18 months to figure out that 0bozo is a pathological POS lying dictator and is Amerika's worst nightmare. Dumbshits like yourself helped to elect or rather enable the coup d'tat of 0bozo the kenyan commie pig! I imagine you & the rest of the slightly unhappy retard MSM will be fully back in 0bozo's camp for his next coup d'tat in 2012.

The early comments at the comPost link are disheartening, to say the least. Lots of Obots out there willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Leaving aside the fact that a good number of the attendees would shoot their missiles at us if they thought they could get away with it, the details of this meeting should have long ago been finalized.

The press can go slam a few down at the local watering hole knowing full well that Rockefeller or Leahy will pass them the particulars in a day or two.
