The funny part is Crist is too stupid to realize the brain dead teachers union will still endorse the Democrat.

linking pay to student test scores isn’t always a good idea because it’s not always the teacher’s fault.

I would go farther than that and say it usually is not the teacher's fault. Despite my contempt for the NEA and teacher's colleges.

Crist can run as an Independent but that will get him about 8%. Meeks won’t gain by Crist running as an Indy because 66% of them will vote for Rubio. Charlie will only keep Rubio from doubling up Meeks.

I just called his office. Should have waited til I cooled off.
I do remember saying he should do us a favor and go ahead and quit and move to DC.

I think if Crist ran as indy he would hurt Meeks more than Rubio.
Rubio is hot.

Crist's action is a vote for the status quo, Florida is 48th in Education. Crist's RINO attack is really against the kids. This is why Marco Rubio will win the August Primary. It's even money Crist will continue as an Indy, and do even more damage to the Florida conservatives.

I support some form of merit pay, but linking pay to student test scores isn’t always a good idea because it’s not always the teacher’s fault.”

Something has to happen to change the attitude: “I have tenure and you cannot fire me attitude” of teachers.

They are waaaay too proud of themselves for producing unemployable students.

I live in Florida....and this bill was weak....good in some areas....but lacking in others

First, this bill did nothing to cut the large number of administrators and non-teaching personnel that are infested in our schools. Remember, it is the administrators who let the teachers underperform and let the schools slide....I wish the GOP in Florida would stop catering to the admin and go after them too.....it would save the state so much money....esp with their retirement packages (much better than any teacher makes)

Also.....not a fan of tying teacher performance to test scores. No fan of the Bush/Kennedy “No Child Left Behind” with its big-government liberalism...and Ted Kennedy fingerprints all over. Scary that you would have the GOP acting so strongly on Ted Kennedy legislation. Standardized test scores are a Ted Kennedy legacy...its big government liberalism

Probably vetoed it as he will run independent...but it probably saved the GOP some state House and Senate seats....this bill was not all that popular

You cut the administration first.....you get more political support, and, you cut the school spending so much more. Attacking teachers usually backfires

Also.....not a fan of tying teacher performance to test scores.

So then how do you fire a teacher for being incompetent?
