Logansport police have arrested a man in connection with the sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl.

The girl was taken from a home in the 600 block of Plum Street last weekend and beaten, sexually assaulted, choked and left to die, police said.

William R. Wilson II, 22, was arrested Monday afternoon at his home, less than a mile from where the girl was attacked.

Police said they first interviewed Wilson last week after a person who heard the suspect description gave them Wilson's name.

He’ll walk—the victim too young to testify, etc.

Hopefully, she will not remember her rape as she ages, but he will remember when he is raped in jail.

Looks like the perp might have “fallen down” while being taken into custody. Something tells me that his 110 years in general population won’t last long. Something slow and painful, I would imagine.

If this guys DNA is on the victim this guy is going to get his in prison.
Most inmates won’t put up with this guys kind even if Dems will.

Logansport child rape case arrest made
Updated: Monday, 17 May 2010, 9:07 PM EDT

Tiffanie Dismore
LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - Logansport police arrested a suspect in the rape of a four-year-old girl. Police Chief A.J. Rozzi said officers arrested 22-year-old William R. Wilson the second this afternoon.

Wilson will be charged with three felony counts of child molesting and one felony count of criminal confinment. On May 2, 2010, a Logansport girl was taken from her mother’s boyfriend’s house and then raped and beaten inside a garage about a block away. A neighbor found the girl alone near the corner of Plum Street and Linden Avenue. The victim’s aunt said the family is happy about the arrested and is confident justice will be done.

“It has been crazy and no family should have to go through this. We are just trying to stick together,” said Abby Fife.

Police Rozzi said up to 30 witnesses were questioned before Wilson’s arrest.

“We were able to come up with a description and later an identification of him being on the sidewalk at approximately 4 a.m. on the day this occured,” he explained.

Police first interviewed Wilson last week but he was released because officers did not have enough evidence to arrest him. Rozzi said Wilson does have a prior record, but wouldn’t comment on what other charges he has been arrest for. Rozzi did state Wilson was not a registered sex offender.

“We were working night and day,” said Rozzi. “We concentrate, a lot of times in cases like this, on a family member or somebody that knows the family. We eliminated those pretty quickly and moved on to other people.”

“The mother and the family are faultless,” said Prosecutor Cass County Kevin Enyert. “This is one of the most horrific things that could happen to a mother, other than to find out that your child has been killed. She had nothing to do with this.”

Wilson was in the Cass County Jail and has a $500,000 bond and one million insured. Police said a tremendous out pour of tips from the community helped them in their investigation.

The law can’t kill this beast but there is a good chance his fellow inmates will take care of it once he gets to prison.

What does it say about our society that we have to rely on drug dealers and thieves to administer real justice in a case like this?

When he’s convicted and sent to prison he’ll get that “earned justice” from the inmates. They can’t stand and they hate “baby rapers”; what a torturous life.

Not that I condone what happened to the little girl, but doesn't this dude get the presumption of innocence? Both articles said that he was arrested.

Neither article mentioned DNA, a confession, witnesses, or anything of the sort.

Stop it with the nooses and "get a rope" crap. Convict the guy then hang him.

mother's boyfriend

So many stories like this contain that phrase. With more unwed mothers every year, the chances of these abuse stories increasing is high.

I think they have DNA evidence from the crime scene. They were taking samples from local sex offenders in the area of the rape.

Four-year-old victim’s injuries recovering

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - News Channel 18 is learning more information about the man suspected of raping a four-year-old girl in Logansport.

Logansport Police Chief A.J. Rozzi said 22-year-old William R Wilson II spent most of his life in the Fort Wayne area. He said Wilson was born in Arizona but moved to Indiana when he was a young child.

Cass county prosecutor Kevin Enyeart said Wilson recently lost his job and moved to Logansport to live with his father, in a home on seventh street.

Chief Rozzi said Wilson does have a previous record, but nothing related to child abuse or sexual crimes. He said Wilson had a couple of alcohol-related arrests, but no convictions.

Enyeart filed six felony charges against Wilson Tuesday. That includes two charges of molestation, one charge of burglary, one of criminal confinement and two charges of strangulation and battery on a child. If Wilson is convicted of all charges, he faces up to 126 years in prison.

Chief Rozzi said the four-year-old victim was in the Logansport police office earlier today. He said she’s doing very well, considering the circumstances, and physically she is looking much better.

Benefit planned for rape victim
Organizers seek volunteers, donations

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - Jeremy Byrd and Josh Vernon are mapping out plans for a benefit event set to take place in June for the four-year-old Logansport girl who was taken from a home and sexually assaulted in a garage earlier this month.

A silent auction, food and games are scheduled. Byrd said hopefully kids will have fun and learn something as well.

“If we could get the message out to the parents and maybe the kids could learn something that not all bad guys are dressed in black. What to look for and things like that, especially with the community watch program,” said Byrd.

Byrd, a father of three and Vernon, a father of four, said what happened to the four-year-old hits home.

“I have four children and for something like that to happen here, as a father, you think to yourself ‘How can I help? or What can I do to help,” said Vernon.

“Both my daughters are young. The thought of something like that happening to them disgusts me and I wanted to help. There wasn’t much I could do and this made me feel like I was helping the family out,” said Byrd.

On June 12th Riverside Park will be filled with local bands, guest speakers, games and food. Both Byrd and Vernon said the event has already exceeded their expectations.

“It’s beyond how big we thought it would be. It’s really huge. Hopefully we can raise some money from the girl and her family,” said Vernon.

Money raised will be given to the girl’s family to help with medical expenses and other costs associated with her recovery.

“We’d like to make some money for the little girl and her family, but most of all we want to promote awareness and prevention methods,” said Vernon.

The ‘Keep the Children Safe’ event is June 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Riverside Park in Logansport

Anyone wishing to help out can call Jeremy Byrd at 765-532-4058.

Donations are also being accepted through a fund set up at Security Federal Savings Bank. Anyone wishing to donate can visit a branch location.

Byrd said so far many local businesses have donated food and prizes. He credits the work the city has done to help with the event as well.
