Chuck Schumer vs. Free Speech

As former commissioners on the Federal Election Commission with almost 75 years of combined experience, we believe that the bill proposed on April 30 by Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Chris Van Hollen to "blunt" the Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United v. FEC is unnecessary, partially duplicative of existing law, and severely burdensome to the right to engage in political speech and advocacy.

Schumer has been a snake for his entire political career. Consider:

I could go on, but it's not really necessary, is it?

RE :"Perhaps the most striking thing about the Disclose Act is that, while the Supreme Court overturned limits on spending by both corporations and unions, Disclose seeks to reimpose them only on corporations....For example, while the Disclose Act prohibits any corporation with a federal contact of $50,000 or more from making independent expenditures or electioneering communications, no such prohibition applies to unions....This prohibition is supposedly needed to address concerns that government contractors might use the political process to steer contracts their way; but unions have exactly the same conflict of interest. So do other recipients of federal funds, such as nonprofit organizations that receive federal grants and earmarks. Yet there is no ban on their independent political expenditures....Disclose also bans expenditures on political advocacy by American corporations with 20% or more foreign ownership, but there is no such ban on unions—such as the Service Employees International Union, or the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers—that have large numbers of foreign members and foreign nationals as directors"

It looks like banking/finance/Wall Street reform is likely to pass the Senate (with ~7 Republicans) but this Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Chris Van Hollen anti-free speech bill needs to be killed.

We are one vote away from the forced governmental dismantling of the First Amendment, through every medium including the internet and the radio.

We are one vote away from the confiscation of every privately owned gun.

We are one vote away from the complete Stalinist eradication of every Christian symbol from public life.

We are one vote away from the insane notion that the Constitution guarantees full and complete health care, a home and a job to everyone who wants one.

We are one vote away from New Haven Fire Fighters becoming the law of the land, when your child’s grades, years of study, and hard work are thrown down the sewer of political correctness if the racial outcome does not meet the pyscho-left’s definition of racial equality.

We are one vote away from the eradication of property rights.

We are one vote away from the takeover of private industry by the government.

We are one vote away from mandated sterilizations and the decree that humans and their breath are a form of pollution.

We are one vote away from Big Brother - just one, and they will not relent because these appointments are of a very extremist nature with a leftist political agenda. They mean to change America through the will of leftist judges - and not through the ballot box because their ideology is rejected.

Our sacred Bill of Rights will be gone. The power of the State will not be stopped.

OK, Yesterday MSNBC was optimistically reporting this and FNC wasn't talking about it so I assumed the worst. But today on FNC Special Report they announced another failed cloture vote. FNC said they need two Republicans to move on it. So keep your fingers crossed.

Other news : Jim DeMint told Neil Cavuto he is not interested in being President at all.(smart move for him but sad for us.) I bet he wants to be Senate Republican leader.

PA Dem winner candidate Joe Sestak told Cavuto he wanted 'pay as you go' to cut spending to pay for other spending. Cavuto asked him what spending he would cut, he said "Raise taxes on ..." .....Not kidding! Fortunately Stephen Moore came on next and he and Neil made fun of him after he left..

Would it be a safe bet that the biggest obstacle to DeMint...or any conservative....being Senate R leader would be McCain (IF he doesn’t get whipped in this primary??)

The holdouts — Senators Maria Cantwell of Washington and Russ Feingold of Wisconsin — joined with 39 Republicans to block an effort by the majority leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, to wrap up debate on the bill. The measure would enact the most far-reaching overhaul of the financial regulatory system since the aftermath of the Great Depression.

Two Republicans, Senators Susan Collins and Olympia J. Snowe of Maine, voted with Democrats in favor of ending debate. And Senator Arlen Specter, Democrat of Pennsylvania, who lost his primary race on Tuesday, was not in Washington on Wednesday, denying Democrats a critical vote.

In most cases I refuse to believe a Senator claiming disinterest in being President.

RE :” In most cases I refuse to believe a Senator claiming disinterest in being President

You had to see it. It wasnt like Hillary's phony lie : “ HA HA HA I am not thinking about running for president..

DeMint said “ There is no way I want to run for President and have to deal with all those problems ”. I imagined him thinking that a Republican President would have huge pressure on him/her to take RINO positions, like raising taxes.
