Djou for Hawaii May 28, 2010
Aloha (xxx),
It's been less than a week since I began working for the people of Hawaii in Congress, and unfortunately the National Democrats have already begun their negative attacks.
In a recent item published in the Congressional newspaper, The Hill, it was reported that Rep. Barney Frank told reporters that they should do their jobs and demanded that I show my birth certificate just after my swearing-in.
To clear up any confusion on Congressman Franks part, I will state that I was born in the United States in Los Angeles, California, and my family moved to Hawaii when I was three. What makes this attack so off-base is that immigrants may serve in Congress as U.S. citizens. As the son of immigrants, I find Congressman Franks statement particularly distasteful. It is unfortunate that I would be attacked so soon after a very positive, bipartisan swearing-in ceremony on the floor of the House of Representatives on Tuesday. But, given the current state of Washington, its not entirely unexpected.
Needless to say, Rep. Franks statement is merely a preview of whats to come as we fight for a full term in November. We dont, however, have to stand silently by as Washington attacks. Will you send Rep. Frank and the DC Democrats a message that we wont be intimidated by contributing to our November re-election campaign?
Because the November election is just a few months away, there can be no resting on our laurels after Saturdays historic victory. I am certain that I will be targeted again by the National Democrats in a few short months. This is why we must be prepared.
In five months, we will face the voters again, and the National Democrats are already launching attacks after my serving less than two days in Congress. This is why I need your help to ensure that these attacks are fully and completely responded to. As I work to cut wasteful spending as your Congressman, I am thankful to know that I have an army of you fighting beside me just as we did during the special election to ensure that our victory is not short-lived. Please contribute $100, $50, or $35 to re-fill our campaign fund for this Novembers general election.
Mahalo!
We knew Barney Frank was out on a limb, but Djou clipped that limb off with a shiny pair of garden shears in my opinion, LOL!
So, why doesn’t he call a press conference and show his long-form birth certificate and invite President Obama to do the same?
Good response.
I like how he calls them “National Democrats”. Isn’t that part of the Nazis’ offical name?
With a fag like Frank, Djou should be lucky that he wasn;t ordered to show something else..
Wonder where Blarney got his Frank from? Did it come with papers?
Uh, Djou just got elected and sworn in. How about enjoying this victory and giving him time to do good things?
Thought this would be a fun thread, not one where some “FReeper” would try to pour a bucket of piss on it from the get-go.
I agree, he should and he could. But he won't. He will not piss off the many Democrats that voted for him for fear they will turn against him in November. Notice the "bipartisan" BS in his statement.
Too bad.
boo hoo, in office only a week and already attacked by the oppostion. You should be grateful for the week of no attacks! No matter who you are the opposition will always attack you. If you didn’t realize that before now then you don’t belong in politics.
Jim, do you see any problems with Charles Djou and/or his statement here?
Either I’m missing something, or the trolls are out in force.
Your comment is weird.
When did Djou say that the attack on him was unexpected?
“So, why doesnt he call a press conference and show his long-form birth certificate and invite President Obama to do the same?”
That is exactly what he should do. That would zing both Frank and Obama.
No, it came with buns (someone else’s).
No wonder we are in trouble. You are expecting immediate gratification, I suspect. I will continue to contribute to him because I think he is right.
Do you see anything wrong about Charles Djou, based on his stances? I think he’s got lots of balls.
The NAZI’s were National socialists...but whose quibbling.
I have too many people I’d like to support and too little money to support them all- they are not my congressmen after all
If Djou impressed me I’d send him money, like I did with Joe “you lie” Wilson. Putting Barney Frank in his place by posting the birth certificate- would impress me.
Until then Michelle Bachman and Jim DeMint will get any extra cash I have to throw at some else’s reps. (my own are hopeless arrogant Maryland libs)
That’s understandable, but no need to place ridiculous criteria on a candidate who is great ( and brand new) like Charles Djou to make your point.
I could well be wrong but I think this statement by Barney Frank had a higher design. I think this could be the beginning of “Palin-ing” Charles Djou. We’ll see how he performs, but I see great things for him. No negatives, so they have to be invented and introduced into the ecosystem. I’m sure they’re busy digging hard to see if he ever so much as burped after drinking a soda.
