McCartney committed a rare lapse for him. Usually he's careful not to insult large parts of his fan base--unlike his late Beatles partner, the late John Lennon who delighted in antagonizing his fans.

I guess Paul fails to see that the reason he's been able to revitalize his career by traveling the world playing concerts since 9/11 is because President Bush put global terrorism hard on the defensive. He's on his fourth U.S. tour since 2001.

Paul's not a total puddinghead. He told the Israel boycotters to buzz off by playing Tel Aviv in 2008:

Sir Paul McCartney's decision to play in Tel Aviv was not without controversy, with the singer telling an Israeli journalist: "I was approached by different groups and political bodies who asked me not to come here. I refused. I do what I think, and I have many friends who support Israel."

Apparently, end-stage senility has set in.

Knew there was a good reason I don’t own any Beatles albums.

He should stick to singing and songwriting. As a political philosopher he’s an utter bust.

Real classy there, “Sir Paul”. I’d be willing to let you compare GWB’s college grades with that of the current resident, if that resident weren’t too embarrassed to let the world see his.

Marxists are fond of telling each other how much they love each other.

Too much Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds has fried Sir Paul’s brain.

Maybe the Mahareshi can help him

“Getting this prize would just be good enough, but getting it from THIS president …” Sir Paul gushed, to big cheers.

That's not all that's gushing...oil is continuing to gush into the Gulf while the President wines and dines with shallow celebrities who lavish vain praise upon each other.

I had to look at the Revolver album...yep, Paul was NOT involved in the writing of Taxman. That was all George Harrison.

McCartney is obviously ignorant of the fact that Bush was an avid reader. And the books he read weren't just lightweight stuff. Karl Rove described the ongoing contest he and Dubya had going, to see who could out-read who. They were plowing through books left and right. It was quite a reading list. I'll bet Bush outreads the boy king five to one.

Gershwin Prize for Popular Song — a lifetime achievement award given by the Library of Congress

Why is an American institution awarding a prize named for an American composer to someone who's not an American?

Did anyone really think that Lennon was the only Marxist in the group? It doesn’t surprise me at all that McCartney would say something like this, but then again, I’m in my early fifties, so I know a thing or two about the Beatles...

“After the last eight years, it’s great to have a president who knows what a library is"

As a lifelong Beatles fan, and one who has often criticized their foibles and follies but gave 'em a pass nonetheless because the music was so good, this really takes the cake.

Paul just jumped the shark with this comment, and I for one will never give him one more cent. He just alienated a good percentage of his fan base with this sucking up to Obama and getting partisan about it.

There is an apt phrase in Mario Puzo's book, "The Godfather", regarding Tessio's betrayal:

"How could such an intelligent man make such a gross error of judgment so late in life"
