Employment Situation Summary (Only 20,000 private nonfarm sector jobs created)

Total nonfarm payroll employment grew by 431,000 in May, reflecting the hiring of 411,000 temporary employees to work on Census 2010, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Private-sector employment changed little (+41,000). Manufacturing, temporary help ser- vices, and mining added jobs, while construction employment declined. The unemployment rate edged down to 9.7 percent.

Well, in all hyperbole and fairness, I’m willing to bet that the stimulus is doing exactly what those who pushed it through wanted it to do: line their (and their friends) pockets, while seeling us down the river.

Exactly. That was the intended purpose all along.

Job creation was the excuse to get it passed, not the fact and not the purpose.

It’s only going to get worse come September and October. Adding 40,000 private secter jobs per month and 400,000 “temporary” gubment jobs for the Census, coupled with approximately 450,000 first time unemployment numbers per WEEK, is disastrous! (Sorry for the run-on sentence)
