“Compared to him, youre human trash right?”
You’re right!
>> In all my 72 years anytime I figured I had more than a 50% probability of survival I proceeded.
It’s time to put a lid on it, stud. You’re on medicare now and we don’t want to pay any more than we have to for your sorry crippled ass.
:-)
The rescue operation was tricky, as expected, as seas remained large and shifting when the large fishing boat arrived. The pickup was by a crew in a smaller boat and at one point its captain fell overboard and "was fished out in difficult conditions," said a statement from French authorities.
how many rescuers have be killed one day for people to wake up to these stupid parental ego trips/stunts
Go to hell asshole!!!!
You are a waste of bandwidth.
That’s about the reply I expected, but with even MORE exclamation points at the end.
You must be one of the chickenshit babyboomers!
People in the rescue business -- firefighters, policemen, coast guard etc-- all assume a certain degree of risk with their job. All of them are volunteers. Did you read Perfect Storm? Or see the film? Some of the coast guard rescuers died in the attempt, if I recall correctly. If you think her voyage was a "stupid parental ego trips/stunts" then we disagree there. I admire Abby and her parents.
I don’t know what a “babyboomer” is. Small submarine armed with nuclear missiles?
“Baby boomers and after generations are LESS THAN HUMAN trash!”
Remember this gramdpa...we’ll be the ones keeping you be being unplugged...just sayin’
“started drag racing at 8,”
Oh really?...where could an 8 year old drag race in 1946?
Enlighten us please...The first dragstrip, the Santa Ana Drags, began running on an airfield in Southern California in 1950.
Talk about smelling like BULLSHIT.
62 and younger know nothing pussys that grew up with their parents giving them everything!
The generation after them is even more useless!
>> started drag racing at 8,
Maybe he means he raced soapbox derby... in drag.
>> 62 and younger know nothing pussys
I know how to spell “pussies”, at least! That’s something!
Do you end each and every sentence with an exclamation point! Or what!
“The first dragstrip, the Santa Ana Drags,”
Know it well drove a flathead rail there when I was 12 that was owned by my future partner Ed Tiffany and went 128.
Also held the D roadster fuel record there running for Sparks and bonnie Automotive.
Before Santa Ana it was street racing!
Wally parks was a pussy promoting drag strips and used to come to our club meetings with his pitch.
No. I think he is saying conservatives shouldn't be pilots. Or take on any such endeavor that requires "unnecessary" risk.
Appreciate the post.
There will always be risk takers and risk avoiders...often the two groups don’t understand the other very well...But you said some true things here.
Well stated. I agree with you completely.
Agreed.
Rescuers help people that need help. At the end of the day you can’t have them deciding whether the person was doing something stupid or smart to get into the situation. A lot of car accidents are the result of people acting stupidly; I would hope my kid would need rescuing for doing something “stupid” like going after his dream as opposed to texting while driving....
At the end of the day, this is no more of a “parental ego trip or stunt” than letting your 15 year old go on a mission trip to Haiti. It’s dangerous, the world is a dangerous place, but a kid that wants to do something like that as opposed to sitting on the couch should be praised and encouraged.
Blennos,
The mental aberration you describe has a name, it’s called “crab mentality”, well known and practiced in Asian countries. It is when someone is perceived to be rising above the masses, the envious do-nothings use all means to destroy the ambitious one and force them back down into the masses again.
Talisker,
Right on ! I guess that me, my parents and the U.S. Navy should be punished severely for I joined the Navy at the age of 17. Before I was 18, I was at the top of a mast, at sea, in heavy swells, replacing masthead lights. This was the beginning of 13 years at sea aboard ships, large and small, Navy and civilian, in all kinds of weather, including several typhoons.
The situation with the young lady sailor is not all that unusual. Stuff happens at sea and rescue is performed without thought of placing blame or asking payment. It is the way of the mariners life at sea. She performed admirably under difficult conditions. Her age did not have anything to do with the equipment failure. Professional ocean yacht race crews have experienced the same dismasting without the wailing and gnashing of teeth that is displayed here by these statists against this very competent SAILOR.
Anyone should be confident of her sailing ability.
