In a bombshell development that could bring a halt to seismic changes in college realignment, sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas is at the table with the 10 remaining Big 12 schools working on a TV deal put forth by commissioner Dan Beebe that would hold the conference together.

I hope this happens. We have a logical alignment of major athletic conferences by region, and all this shuffling about trying to pull in more dollars would not improve the game of college football for the fans.

We’ll have to recruit two schools to replace Nebraska and Colorado, or else eliminate the conference championship game.

Boise State and BYU would be the most likely and most palatable.

New name for the conference will be Red River Shootout and Friends.

As a Texas fan, I personally would rather see a combination with the Pac10. And Dan Beebe has been an abysmal commissioner.

Boise State is joining the MWC. And with all A&M’s complaints about travel, I doubt they want to play in Boise.

Texas needs to leave the Have Nots behind in the Big 12 and mover on to the PAC 10.

TCU wasn’t invited originally, and they are still upset about it, so they probably won’t be joining. And SMU brings nothing to the table.

I would pick TCU.

Of course after spanking Texas in the Super Regional this weekend, I don’t think the Texas baseball team would want that.

For every story out there saying the Big 12 can be saved, there are two or three saying that the Big 12 is dead and the Texas teams will be leaving over the course of the week. I’m afraid I tend towards the later.

Utah might work out in the Big 12 too.

Boise State just announced they're switching to the Mountain West.

I hear they’re going to merge with the Big 10, forming a new conference called the “Awesome 22.”

SMU bears watching this year. I have them as a sleeper, with June Jones’ third year, and one of the nation’s most exciting young quarterbacks in Kyle Padron.
