I’m reading on THE OIL DRUM the possibility of a bleed out. A minimum of 1.5 BILLION barrels. It stops when it’s empty. And the fact that BP no longer talks about stopping the leak and talks about capturing says a lot.

Something that I find puzzling is just this: the drilling rig operated in water as deep as 2,400m, and could drill into the rock below the water some 9,100m. While that is certainly deep, there is an amazing amount of pressure pushing the oil out of that hole.
Offshore drilling has been going on in earnest since about 1947. So why hasn’t this happened before? What is unique about this place that puts that oil under so much pressure?
You would think that either with past oil rigs, or even naturally, such undersea oil plumes should be common.

Yes, it is getting harder to ignore the biblical prophecies by the day. Holy smokes, this oil leak is like something from a horror movie. Hey, at least we have a Hopefull Changey president in charge, so we can all feel good about this. Man, if it were a GOP President, the press would be doom and gloom about this eco disaster.
