Unemployment bill dealt Senate defeat
AP/YahooNews ^ | 6/16/10

Republicans and a dozen Democratic defectors in the Senate have dealt a defeat to President Barack Obama just days after he pressed Congress to renew pieces of last year's economic bill.

After coming out on the losing end of a 52-45 test vote, Obama's Democratic allies have been forced back to the drawing board in their efforts to extend unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless and provide $24 billion in aid to cash-strapped state governments.

Unemployment will stay above 9% for the next two years. You can take that to the bank.

Just remember who calculates unemployment. They can say its 9.7% or tell the truth and say its 17%. The rate is in the hands of folks like Rahm Emmanuel. The truth is nearer 12% than 9.7%, its just not politically smart to tell the truth.

Maybe, maybe not—Kudlow and others have (rightly) observed that when UEI benefits are extended, people are not inclined to seek a job until those benefits are about to expire, then lo and behold!!!

So when did the rats start playing by senate rules?

By Obamacare standards they had enough votes...

Republicans and a dozen Democratic defectors

The vote was 52 to 45. There are 59 Dems in the Senate [counting the two independents] and 41 reps. If 12 Dems defected, then that would leave 45 for the bill. But 12 plus 41 is 53. The three not voting must have been two dems and one rep.

Obama has intentionally created crisis unemployment and is trying to drive it higher. What’s the end game? What is he trying to accomplish?

Nobody wants to hear it but I think his end goal is to obliterate the white middle class. Think of where he spent 20 years "worshiping".

Excellent take, Stentor. Worth considering.

Wants to kill the middle class.

Not politically expedient to extend unemployment benefits for MORE than 99 weeks.

The bill being considered would NOT add weeks beyond the current 99 max. It would only move the eligibility dates for receiving the current set of tiers (4) to Nov 2010 for those who haven't completed 99 weeks. People who have exhausted their 99 weeks are done, at least for now.

"Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal".--James (Jim) Cone,

SEAN HANNITY: But Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not backing down and has not for years and in his strong stance on the teaching of black liberation theology is nothing new. He had the same things to say last spring when he appeared on "Hannity & Colmes:"

WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the '60s, systematized black liberation theology that started with Jim Cone in 1968 and the writings of Cone and the writings of Dwight Hopkins and the writings of womynist theologians and Asian theologians and Hispanic theologians, then you can't talk about the black value system.

HANNITY: But I'm a — reverend

WRIGHT: Do you know liberation theology, sir?

Obama's Church: Gospel of Hate
Kathy Shaidle, FrontPageMag.com
Monday, April 07, 2008

In March of 2007, FOX News host Sean Hannity had engaged Obama’s pastor in a heated interview about his Church’s teachings. For many viewers, the ensuing shouting match was their first exposure to "Black Liberation Theology"...

Like the pro-communist Liberation Theology that swept Central America in the 1980s and was repeatedly condemned by Pope John Paul II, Black Liberation Theology combines warmed-over 1960s vintage Marxism with carefully distorted biblical passages. However, in contrast to traditional Marxism, it emphasizes race rather than class. The Christian notion of "salvation" in the afterlife is superseded by "liberation" on earth, courtesy of the establishment of a socialist utopia.

Without the unemployment checks, the real unemployment will be evident, and there will be such hatred for this administration that they’ll initially buy time expending huge effort blaming Bush...when it was Bush who had average 5% unemployment.

No. The "official" count is those currently receiving unemployment plus those new ones filing for the first time.

So, If there are 10 million out of work and 1 million have benefits run out - the "official" number is 9 million ...

Ironic ...
