Now what would one be studying in Yemen for 18 months? What are Yemeni schools noted for?
Good-—keep him there and ship the rest of the dreck here in the USA back to the sand pits of origin where they belong.
Let me get this straight, he has been associating with known terrorist, and now he is upset that he has been placed on the on-fly list.
Me thinks that the saying “If you don’t want to wake up with fleas, don’t sleep with dogs” is very appropriate.

“American Stuck In Egypt Due To No-Fly List”
“Virginian Yahya Wehelie, 26, In Yemen To Study Arabic, Restricted From Boarding Any U.S.-Bound Flight”
Wehelie: ‘It’s amazing how the U.S. government can do something like this’
CAIRO (CBS)
snippet: “Yahya Wehelie, 26, who was born in Fairfax, Virginia, to Somali parents was returning from 18 months studying in Yemen, when Egyptian authorities stopped him from boarding his flight to New York saying the FBI wanted to speak with him.”
SNIPPET: “U.S. authorities have put Americans studying in Yemen under heavy scrutiny after a number of failed terrorist attacks were linked back to Al Qaeda’s branch in Yemen.
The Council On American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) claims many American citizens delayed abroad under similar circumstances have been subjected to so-called pressure tactics. “
Diplomats come and go to Washington regularly, perhaps he could try to back when some of the personnel need to return!
The FBI is right. This type of profiling is a real good idea.
“....just get me back home.”
.
Swim for it Yahyah, or whatever your name is, and don’t forget your brother Yusuf.
You are known by your associates.
Ok, so he can’t fly but he can take a ship. Or easier yet, fly into Mexico and cross over with all the other OTM illegals at the border. There’s ways to get here and with his Yemen buddies’ influence, I’m sure he can think of other ways. Sounds like he’s whining to make a point with the media or this is some sort of dry run scenario to find holes in the system.
“Studying in Yemen...for 18 months...”
Enough to qualify him for a Master’s degree at any top rated marshmallow major university.
or put him in the brig aboard a Navy ship heading back to home port in the U.S. Chief-Masters-at-Arms make those such enjoyable palces.
We need a no in country list.
If they don’t want people on the no fly list to buy guns, then the list needs to be definitive that the people on the list are a threat. Any list that definitive should also keep and kick people out of the country.
I have a name that is on the no fly list, once they check my info I am always cleared to get on the plane. If they won’t clear him even after talking to the FBI, I am sure it is for a good reason.
ping
He can take a boat.
SNIPPET from post no. 1:
"Wehelie said he was then told by FBI agents in Egypt that his name was on a no-fly list because of people he met in Yemen..."
What does an Americanized kid of Somali parentage need to learn in Yemen? This punk was “studying” terrorism and making questionable friends. Good on on the FBI. The rule should be: you go to a country like Yemen or Somalia or Pakistan, you hang out with our enemies, you can’t come back. He can just sweat it out in a wonderful Muslim country and get really acquainted with his “culture.” Do not pass go; do not collect $100. They will eventually let him return, I am sure, but from that time on he should be watched, tracked, phone-tapped and everything else. Maybe he can come home on a boat.
OFF THREAD TOPIC, but interesting and ON THE INTERNET:

Oh the horror! Oh the hugh manatee!
You couldn't find, say a community college in VA to study information tech? Is yemen the pinnacle for this kind of study?
I doubt it but we do know that it is the go to place for another kind of study.
" his mother Shamsa Noor said she sent her sons to Yemen to learn Arabic and get some direction in their lives".
Yeah I think we can figure that one out.
This guy has more red flags than a may day parade and he wonders how he got in this predicament?
I take it that his brother, Yusuf, was allowed to fly back to the US while he was not. Is that a correct assumption?
Yep, I’m sure the poor guy would love to get back to good ole America so he can use what he learned in Yemen.
Something stinks to high hell.
What was he studying in Yemen that he couldn’t study here? I don’t care where he was born if his loyalty is somewhere else.
