No, she isn't right.

Marijuana is a gateway drug. Legalizing it will guarantee more losers smoking pot, more killing innocent people, especially on the highways, and result in an increase in all drug usage, drug trafficking and crime.

Marijuana decriminalization was tried in the 1970s in several states and was complete disaster and each state ended up outlawing it once again.

I don't even know how to respond to such indoctrinated ignorance.

"Legalizing it will guarantee more losers smoking pot, more killing innocent people..."

Please point me to the place in her statements where she said MJ should be legal...I must have missed that.

Legalizing MJ will just make the "underground economy" (see crooks and mobs) go to a different "product"..most likely one that is more lastingly harmful to young brains and bodies than MJ.

Yeah she is right. We tried banning alcohol with prohibition and it was a disaster, with the lasting legacy being organized crime. Alcohol is a far bigger societal problem than MJ.

"Marijuana is a gateway drug"

This belief is based solely on the fact that hard drug users first used marijuana. But I suspect long before that they used aspirin or children's Tylanol. Maybe Tylanol is a gateway drug? I'm sure most alcoholics first drank beer. Perhaps beer is a gateway drug for alcoholism? Almost all children in the United States ate their first food from a jar...maybe baby food is a gateway to obesity.

The claim of marijuana being a gateway drug is weak and you can drive a mac truck through the argument.

“Marijuana is a gateway drug.”

No it is not.

Statistically, alcohol is many times over a “gateway” to alcoholism, more than is pot to drug addiction.

The false statistic that is used is based on the question to a cocaine or heroine addict, about earlier pot use.

But that is no different than asking an alcoholic, “when did you take your first drink”, finding it was in their teens and then suggesting that teenage is a “gateway” to alcoholism. Now, mot people did take their first drink in their teens, but most people do not become alcoholics.

The true statistic to how much pot becomes a gateway is - out of all those who ever smoked or smoke pot, how many went on, or go on to “harder” drugs?

The fact is, just as most liquor drinkers do not become alcoholics, most who ever smoked pot or still smoke it on occasion do not go on to harder drugs.

Not only is your statement not right, it’s not even wrong!

"I think we need to prioritize our law enforcement efforts. If somebody's gonna smoke a joint in their house and not do anybody any harm, then perhaps there are other things our cops should be looking at to engage in and try to clean up some of the other problems we have in society."

What do you disagree with here?

Let's see if I can make Palin's quote more to your liking by reversing its salient points:

"I don't think we need to prioritize our law enforcement efforts. If somebody's gonna smoke a joint in their house and not do anybody any harm, then our cops should focus on that instead of trying to clean up some of the other problems we have in society."

Do you like that better?

And where in this quote did she say "smoking pot is no big deal?"

PDS trolls are transparent, predictable and stupid.

Marijuana is a gateway drug.

Nonsense. There's no such thing as a "gateway" drug. That's been disabused since way back in the 80's. Honest.
