Found this. Looks like the New Madrid fault zone extends a lot further than I thought.

I used to live right on the New Madrid fault growing up. You could lay in bed at night and feel a low shaking, pretty much all the time

Ditto. Just did some checking and didn’t see this. The darn thing almost goes past my house.

Wow, I never knew the New Madrid Fault line ran that far. The main seismic zone is near New Madrid, MO, however.

Yes, it sure does extend farther than we thought.

No wonder the New Madrid quake was felt as far away as Boston, when it actually caused church bells to ring there in the early 1800s.

Activity on this fault, is cause for concern IMO.

My phone shows today’s quake at 5.5.

Wow...thanks. I grew up near the New Madrid fault...I had no idea it extended this far. First I’ve heard of it.

I really wish you didn’t post that picture. The center red line on that runs exactly through my property, no kidding.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

WOW.

Incredible.

It doesn’t appear to go into the Gulf . . . unless there are some faults missing that folks just haven’t connected with it, yet.

I was looking for this elsewhere and couldn’t find. Judging from the spread of this relatively minor EQ, I’m guessing it’s correct.

What source did you locate for it?
