"Even more about McChrystal: now it can be told. The story about him voting for Obama is not contrived. He is a political liberal. He is a social liberal. He banned Fox News from the television sets in his headquarters. Yes, really. This puts to rest another false rumor: that McChrystal deliberately precipitated his firing because he wants to run for President."

Could this be our military-uniform clad tyrant rising to power ?
Hmm... interesting thought. Can it get worse than Obama ? Obama and crew have only stated their hatred for Fox and the Right. They attempted to shun them in the white house, and actually shunned them on the campaign trail. If McChrystal out-and-out attempts to run on the “I’m not quite Obama” ticket - Will he win, even against the ultra right ?
Obama is a thin-skinned narcissistic pussy.
We were looking at the good generals medals shown on his uniform. Interesting.
Let’s stop lionizing mcchrystal now! He voted for obama, a harvard sissy not a fellow military man McCain.
Robert Gates niminated McChrystal for the Afghanistan post. If that doesn’t say anything about McChyrstal’s politics, NOTHING will.
Just another leftist undone by his own hubris.
The problem zero, et al, now have on their hands is the morale of the soldiers currently in, heading to, or possibly being sent to Afghanistan. All they see is chaos at the top and chaos at the top gets them killed.
I don’t see this having a good outcome.
McChrystal is a liberal and banned fox news?
Well, now I don’t feel so bad for him.
He wrote the roe, believes each dead civilian makes 10 terrorists and won’t touch enhanced interrogation with a ten foot pole.
More on this. BTW it is FR posted.

That raises another question: Did his aides sabotage him deliberately?
I got “niminated” once while playing football. I was gimpy for a week.
One can be a liberal and still not be OK with the US going communist.
In the course of this article, the writer says “Obama had no choice” (in firing McCrystal). Sure he did, he could have realized he was an incompetent boob and resigned rather than McChrystal.
Yes, I have wondered that also, and where do you draw the line? What about all those neighbors on my street who had obama signs? How can they justify voting a dictator wannabe?

Gail - excellent link - confirmed all I suspected...
no sympathy for McCrys, for Petraeus, for Mullen...
not for anyone who puts politics before the safety of the troops and victory...

FWIW, Gates was one of McChrystal’s strongest defenders during the very brief debate in the WH about whether he should stay or should go. Gates argued that sacking him would be really bad for military morale and the war effort in Afghanistan. In contrast, the political types in the WH were arguing he “had” to go (i.e., Obama’s letting him stay would make the CinC look bad/weak). Guess whose advise Obama followed!
"...Generals Petraeus and McChrystal are not evil men. They have chosen defense of our nation as their career, but they have a misplaced definition of mercy .. which the Sages referred to as The Mercy of Fools and the wise Rabbi Moshe Ben Nachman (12th Century Rambam) added. 'Through the mercy of fools all justice is lost.'"
