CHICAGO An Asian carp was found for the first time beyond electric barriers meant to keep the voracious invasive species out of the Great Lakes, state and federal officials said Wednesday, prompting renewed calls for swift action to block their advance.
Commercial fishermen landed the 3-foot-long, 20-pound bighead carp in Lake Calumet on Chicago's South Side, about six miles from Lake Michigan, according to the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee.

The reality is there’s no stopping them, and from the size of the thing you can see it’s been feeding well, they’ll devour the entire Great Lake system before it’s over. To bad they don’t feed on Zebra Muscles ...
What a shame

Oh my gosh, when they come up on a group like that they should be able to set off an electrical charge and kill them all, honestly, they are nothing but a plague.

“the Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee???”.....WTF?
Sounds like the Chicago Fish Community Organizers are a failure also!......But Carp and Chicago go together anyway.

You have to watch out those single Asian carp will have a few drinks and then try to put the moves on your girlfriend.

Commercial fishermen landed the 3-foot-long, 20-pound bighead carp in Lake Calumet on Chicago's South Side That's just disgusting. Who do they supply to and what is it they supply? (I'm hoping its for fertilizer companies)

Closing the locks would cause the unemployment of a lot of folks who work down here. Possibly including me.

The Asian Carp will kill the fishing industry there!
I've had a couple people get upset because I've compared the asian carp issue with the oil spill but the fact is that both will devastate economies and in both cases inaction and interference from Obama is at its root.

You’re right!
Inaction by the Marxist, will have the same outcome.
Both are equally upsetting.

With proper netting you could make a lot of fertiilzer/cat food with those fish.. or food processed to feed other marketable species.. like aqua-culture shrimp or salmon/tuna or even piggies...
Only thing needed is the ability to CAPITALIZE on the problem..

We could just rename them to “Great Lake Crape” and start eating them. It worked for “Chilean Sea Bass”.

Kinda funny how Chicago gets their way in this considering their vast stake in it. (The dark area is the great lakes watershed)
Interestingly enough, Great Lakes Czar David Cameron is another Joyce foundation alumnus. He got billions of taxpayer dollars from the Obama administration but is strangely silent on this issue.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Commercial fishing in Lake Calumet? Yuck.

Obama has never had a problem killing other peoples jobs. The fact is that the ecosystem of the entire Great Lakes Region is in jeopardy. The region is home to over 30 million people and a fishing industry of over $7 billion. A few shipping jobs in the Chicago area are not as important as the health of an entire industry and region.
The Shipping and sanitation channels should be outright closed and reverted back to the natural state of being disconnected from the Mississippi River system.
