Sheryl Crow: Tea Partiers are too ‘Uneducated’ to ‘Understand What’s Happening on Wall Street’

Sheryl Crow: Tea Partiers are too ‘Uneducated’ to ‘Understand What’s Happening on Wall Street’ By Alana Goodman Created 06/28/2010 - 16:39 Pop-star and courageous anti-toilet-paper crusader [0] Sheryl Crow apparently has a new political concern: Tea Partiers.

The country crooner told CBS journalist Katie Couric that Tea Party members are uneducated, angry and potentially dangerous in an interview [1] with Glamour magazine this June.

After Crow complained in the interview that Americans have become too blasé about politics, and that nobody has taken to the streets to cause "a riot or a revolution," Couric correctly pointed to the Tea Party as an example of modern day activism.

"What do you think of the Tea Party movement? Because that is the specific sort of group of people who would say we're out there, we're getting involved in the process...," asked Couric.

"I appreciate the fact that those people are out there and that they are fired up," responded Crow, before adding that Tea Partiers "haven't educated themselves...they're just pissed off."

"My main concern is that [the Tea Party is] really fear-based," said Crow, a cancer survivor and environmental activist. "What's coming out of the Tea Party most often, especially if you go onto YouTube, and you see some of the interviews with these people who really don't even know what the issues are, they're just swept up in the fear of it and the anger of it."

"They're not sure what they're angry at," Crow continued. "[T]hey don't understand what's happening on Wall Street."

The singer also worried that the "uneducated" and "angry" Tea Partiers could even become dangerous. "[K]nowledge is power, and anything less than that when it comes to anger can be dangerous," said Crow.

But before she snubbed the education level of Tea Partiers again, maybe Crow should have checked out this New York Times poll [2], which found Tea Party members to be "more educated than the general public."

The Grammy-award winning songstress could also serve to learn a thing or two from the Tea Partiers - in the past she's come under fire for her own bone-headed remarks. In 2007, Crow was mocked across the political spectrum for suggesting in a Huffington Post column [3] that people should use "only one square [of toilet paper] per restroom visit" in order to conserve trees.

Other ideas in Crow's 2007 column included using a reusable "dining sleeve" instead of a dinner napkin, and a creating a "greenest lifestyle" contest for aspiring musicians.

Crow later backed away [3] from her statements, claiming they were merely brilliant satire written in order to bring attention to the dire threat of climate change.

Later in her June Glamour magazine interview with Couric, Crow slammed Karl Rove and other conservatives for harping on her toilet paper idea. She claimed this was done "[j]ust to discredit me and to make me look silly."

Isn't she the one who wants everyone to use one square of toilet paper per “visit”? If she practices what she preaches getting within 100 feet of her must be an adventure.

Considering she has a BA in Music Composition, I’d suggest she should be more careful about who to call “uneducated.”

Sounds like someone is a fan of the "country singer!"

Sheryl Crow loves to soak up the sun, but she likes to do it in an environmentally friendly fashion. The singer and her tour have teamed up with Reverb, a nonprofit that helps musicians make eco-conscious choices, to go green this summer.

But what does it mean for a tour to go green? It’s pretty simple. It involves filling the trucks and buses with B20 biodiesel fuel, reducing waste, recycling backstage and on the buses, replacing petroleum and paper based products with biodegradable and compostable catering products, serving local and organic food backstage and calculating and neutralizing the carbon footprint from all travel.

Each show will also contain an eco-village and concert-goers can visit the online car pooling site to reduce emissions getting to and from the show!

Sheryl will start hitting the road following the July 20th release of her seventh album 100 Miles from Memphis.

Pro Abortionist, Sheryl Crow adopts a new baby boy

Sheryl Crow is now a mother of two.

The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, 48, announced on her Web site Friday that she has adopted another son.

“I have some exciting news to share with you guys,” she wrote. “Wyatt has a new little brother! Levi James was born April 30th. Just wanted you all to be the first to hear the good news!”

The adoption had been underway for about a year, Crow’s publicist told CNN.

Crow’s older son, Wyatt, 3, was also adopted.

The singer plans to take Levi and Wyatt on the road with her starting June 11, according to Crow’s publicist. Crow also plans to take Levi with her to the first five tour dates of Lilith Fair.

she is from the good state of Missouri, her family must be sick.

Believe me, Missouri has its fair share of dumbasses. Don't know about Crow's family but...the apple normally doesn't fall too far from the tree.

I remember watching the movie, “Farewell My Concubine” and it displayed perfectly how out of touch the actors were with how things were going on. Throughout the regime changes they still worked and had fans, but it wasn’t until the Reds took over that they started getting into trouble. The only one who managed to keep them from getting shot was the wife of one of the actors, a former prostitute who had married one of them.

At one point though, they did get dragged through the streets and forced to ‘confess’ their ‘crimes’ and it ended up with the suicide of the wife/prostitute because her husband denounced her to save his own skin.

The entertainment industry is highly insulated from a lot of what goes on in this country, which is what makes them so unable to really understand how things work. They are currently insulated from the hideous economic conditions due to their vast fortunes and ability to move anywhere if they don’t like where they live and the conditions. Until there is a full blown Communist/Fascist takeover, they will remain insulated because capitalism is the only system where they can make as much money as they do for doing so little.

I don’t think this woman realizes that if/when such a revolution should occur, she and her ilk could end up dragged through the streets by irate revolutionaries.

wow Sheryl, I had four years drilling with an M-1 and getting haircuts every Monday. Majored in biochemistry and got a medical degree.... in the United States, and I think the "Tea Party" is too liberal and well behaved. But that's just my opinion, you guitar humping, horse-faced, troubadour.

Now go on, get off your knees to the liberal press, entertain the masses, sing for your living and shut the f#@k up.

Now I know that Music Composition is tough but I'd like Ms. Crow to write an editorial explaining the "Wall Street" problem that I don't understand. Since she has a firm grasp on the matter it should be no problem using simple metaphors , small words and diagrams to help me out.

Everybody here knows these libs. They were the jerk offs that couldn't do anything physically, were unpopular or ugly and the only sense of self importance came from putting others down. That's basically what liberalism is ... envy carried out at the point of a gun.

“They’re not sure what they’re angry at,” Crow continued. “[T]hey don’t understand what’s happening on Wall Street.”

Please explain it to us you dolt! Explain how regulating and nationalizing everything we were investing our retirements on including U.S. bonds have depreciated since your educated democrats took over Congress! Explain how increasing the deficit by trillions is going to grow the National GDP! Explain to us dolts how killing the private sector is going to increase revenue to the Washington coffers!

Where do I stop! I’m so sick and tired of being sick and tired!

“[K]nowledge is power, and anything less than that when it comes to anger can be dangerous,” said Crow.

What a total moron. If knowledge is power, and the Tea-Partiers are ‘uneducated’, then by logical deduction, the Tea-Partiers do not have power. If they have no power, how can they be dangerous?
