I think that 18 USC 241 is going to be the way to attack these kinds of abuses, rather than bringing a legal challenge against each abusive requirement individually.

Daley and his crew, and the DC government, could play this kind of smart-aleck game for decades, each time coming up with innovative ways to abuse the Second Amendment rights of the citizens, unless they are broadly and categorically slapped down hard by the DoJ Civil Rights Division and/or the courts.

Why the hell does a city council have 45 members? No wonder Chicago is unmanageable. Why not 450 members? Then they can govern as poorly as the US government.

I expect nothing less than complete hypocrisy from liberals. That Chicago politicians have concealed carry is to be expected. Not UNEXPECTED in the least.

Liberals are world-class hypocrites.

Is Illinois a pre-emption state in terms of purchasing firearms? If so, then all this crap by Daley is mere bloviation.

"When southern states tried to do a constitutional end-around in the 50’s 60’s it brought in the National Guard. "

Hummmmm... Back in the 60's a whole lot of future democrat voters were being denied access to the public indoctrinition system, so the USofA attorney general sends in the NG.

Different problem, different players, and no one wants the voters to be packin in Chigao today. That's the home town of the Big Zero and his sidekick Eric Holder, the current Attorney General, if I recall correctly.

Chicago City Council today passed Mayor Richard Daley's new set of gun restrictions 45-0.

Thanks for posting them all. Nothing but "infringements" in my book.

The infiltration of undocumented communists in our major cities and elsewhere has reached a critical mass. These people ARE NOT American by any stretch.

By allowing crime and mayhem to rule our streets they serve the purpose of imposing draconian crackdowns on personal liberty via the 'crisis=opportunity' vehicle.

I bet if you went from school to school in Chicago you wouldn't even find the American flag- much less hear The Pledge of Allegience.

“Ald. Deborah Graham, 29th, issued a plea. “I also would encourage gang bangers who get those guns unlawfully to stop getting them unlawfully,” she said”

This has to be one of the dumbest quotes of all time. I'm sure gang bangers all over the city are now going to register their weapons thanks to Debbie.

In my day, the term “gang banger” had a totally different meaning.

Joe here is something to think about. Actually it deserves to be broadcast far & wide.

A summery of this new Chicago law is in post # 16. It is obviously the most restrictive law in the Country. Funny thing, the City Council Aldermen that passed this pile of bovine excrement have Concealed Carry for themselves!

Yup!

65 ILCS 5/3.1-15-25
Sec. 3.1-15-25. Conservators of the peace; service of warrants.

(a) After receiving a certificate attesting to the successful completion of a training course administered by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, the mayor, aldermen, president, trustees, marshal, deputy marshals, and policemen in municipalities shall be conservators of the peace. Those persons and others authorized by ordinance shall have power (i) to arrest or cause to be arrested, with or without process, all persons who break the peace or are found violating any municipal ordinance or any criminal law of the State, (ii) to commit arrested persons for examination, (iii) if necessary, to detain arrested persons in custody over night or Sunday in any safe place or until they can be brought before the proper court, and (iv) to exercise all other powers as conservators of the peace prescribed by the corporate authorities.

[snip]

I am not a Lawyer, but even I can wade through Illinois law. When you dig far enough into it, you find Conservators of the peace powers include concealed carry.

Cute.
