Joe Biden sees Iraq success for President Obama

BAGHDAD — Vice President Joe Biden said after a three-day trip to Baghdad that the American people will see President Barack Obama’s Iraq policy as a success when the “combat mission” ends on schedule Aug. 31. Biden said the administration “will be able to point to it and say, ‘We told you what we’re going to do, and we did it.’”

“I think America wins,” Biden told POLITICO in an end-of-trip interview at the ambassador’s residence in the sprawling U.S. Embassy complex. “I sound corny, but I think America gets credit here in the region. And I think everybody gets credit, from George Bush to [President Obama].

“I think Americans will recognize that there aren’t body counts ... that they got 95,000 people home. That will be noticeable that they’re home."

The chief purpose of Biden’s visit was to prod Iraqi politicians to form a government and end a four-month stalemate that followed parliamentary elections. The vice president said security in the country “doesn’t really relate to whether there’s a government formed or not.”

“The government that is the interim government now — a little like our interregnum period between November and January — is actually functioning in terms of security,” he said. “I am hopeful — I am confident — that in the relatively near term, they’re going to be able to work out an agreement on ... the new government.”

What a damned joke. For a clearer indication of President Kafka’s leadership skills, one only has to look at Afghanistan.

He inherited the Iraq success.

Then Sen Biden visited Baghdad while I was there in the summer of 07, he like most of the other Dems were singing a much different tune then, which provided encouragement to those who were working hard to kill us. These guys are amazing, I still get mad just thinking about it.

They will re-up and go to Afghanistan instead.

I am talking in a political sense, which is the gist of Biden's claims and the topic of the thread. Don't ever even suggest that I would take away from our troops or the ISF.

Read things in their contexts before attempting to correct me.

Good for you. I understood full well the context you were making. I used your statements to expound that politicans may lose wars, they sure as hell don't win them.

Get over yourself.

I bet we will still have plenty of force protection troops in Iraq for some time to protect our Embassy, NGOs, and other USG-sponsored assistance groups in Iraq plus some advisors. We won’t be going down to zero in terms of troops any time soon. This will be just “combat forces.”

You must be referring to Vice President Joe 'bite me'.

Then you have Algore behaving badly around women.

Most men become gentlemen and wiser while aging; particularly with adult women.

Get over yourself, n00b.

And if you're going to change something I wrote, please refrain from using that gay little exclamation point.

Or better yet, make your own post, rather than thumping your chest off of someone else's.

The average Iraqi does not care for the kenyan... I got this from several friends that have been there for quite awhile.

I concur.

Hi Allegra!

It has been awhile but I think of you often. I hope that you are well? Are you still in theater? I hope that you had a great Independence Day... we certainly need our Independence from this marxist kenyan!

All the Best and thank you and everyone for what they do. Some of us NEVER forget. GOD bless.

I'm doing GREAT and I hope all is well with you and yours and that you are surviving the Obameconomy.

Yep...I'm still here in the desert. I took a long break late last year into early this year and it was much needed.

Now, I'm back at it, working with the military on the drawdown. I figured, what the hey - I was here for early days when we were building up all of this stuff, and then for the training and reconstruction initiatives, so I may as well see it through. :)

That is good to hear. Here in Mississippi, we are in a depression and my business is directly affected by the BP spill... but we will survive... we are real Americans here... like those with you there. GOD bless!

Claiming Iraq a success for the Obama regime?

That’s like dining at a fine restaurant then claiming credit for the meal.

Sorry, Joe, but that won’t f’n fly.

Is it any wonder that Europe is looking at us like idiots?

The US is creating inflation by printing way too much currency. Go shopping at a supermarket lately and compare the prices from 2 years ago?

At the G-20 summit Obama said they need to print more stimulus money. Angela Merkel from Germany told him they are not going to destroy their economies like we are! They know all about hyper-inflation and don't want another Hitler popping up on the stage.

No you get over yourself.... No you, no you. What is this elementary school?

BTW I never used an exclamation point..... it was an apostrophe that I inadvertently placed before a period instead of after.... but I'm sure in your over reaction you missed that.

You were probably busy doing not-gay things like underlining every other word and spelling newbie with zeros.

It is pretty funny that you want me to create "my own post" rather than borrowing from yours and then you start one with something I said.

Anyhow, my original intent was in agreement with yours.... it was just amplifying. If I wanted to correct you, I would have said "fixed it".....or flat said you were wrong. Never once did I say anything you said was wrong, incorrect, or anything of the sort. Nor, did I ever imply that you were somehow not supportive of the troops. I added my own spin..... since I didn't ever remember Bush next to me in a firefight.

I thought we were seeing sort of eye to eye until you wanted to cry and overreact.

I figure we could see eye to eye if you'd drop all that MSM-style hyperbole.

...and spelling newbie with zeros.

It's a FReeper thing. You'll understand when you've been around for a while.

Anyhow, my original intent was in agreement with yours....

It wasn't really evident.

If you want to act like an adult and refrain from treating people as if they are idiots, that's great. If not, I'm done with you.
