The selective modesty of Barack Obama

By Charles Krauthammer Friday, July 9, 2010

Remember NASA? It once represented to the world the apogee of American scientific and technological achievement. Here is President Obama's vision of NASA's mission, as explained by administrator Charles Bolden: "One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science and math and engineering."

I couldn’t agree with you more....but you know we should meet for beers on election day, we will have the free time because other than voting for my dog, there will absolutely never be any candidate that meets our criteria.....well maybe one, once in a very long while, but really nothing of an order of magnitude to make any difference overall..

It just doesn’t seem possible that what is happening is happening.

I agree. But, we ignored Rand's warnings 50+ years ago and let the politicians blind us to what they arew doing.

Ultimately, WE are to blame for falling asleep at the switch.

Gingrich is good at speaking out as a conservative, ala John McCain, when in reality he is an internationalist. War is peace,... ... black is white, truth is lie ,,, and fact is fiction,in to days, news.

While Newt says things I would like to believe ... I do not believe him, he is an opportunist. A true UNIVERSALIST! His excellent DVD on "God in Washington", is so good it almost deceives me into believing he means what he says. NOT true ... it is deception. His hope is To step in after Obama and continue most all the same things/policies. Look back at his record and his earlier friends. Some of the most radical Left. Not by accident.

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

I fully concur with one significant exception - I don’t want their WORDS!!! Politicians have learned to lie glibly to our faces and think nothing of it.

Instead, I want to see their actions. I want to see a verifiable history of supporting conservative causes or involvement in conservative activism.

We’ve all heard their words and felt their betrayal once they were elected. So, I want the actions, NOT the words.

Krauthammer: "It began with the almost comical self-inflation of his presidential campaign, from the still inexplicable mass rally in Berlin in front of a Prussian victory column to the Greek columns framing him at the Democratic convention. And it carried into his presidency, from his posture of philosopher-king adjudicating between America's sins and the world's to his speeches marked by a spectacularly promiscuous use of the word "I." "

Ironic - considering he's just a puppet for the globalists, Fabian Socialists, population control freaks, and the Brave New World Order.

If you concede his legitimacy, and thus show your complete and utter ignorance of the Constitution, do you think latter you have should be respected for your whining?

Krauthammer deals with reality. Me, too.

“I am not passing on whether or not he’s an American citizen, as a matter of fact, I have many doubts that he is.”

But part of your previous reply was:

“The fact that he was elected to the office he holds makes this his country”

So being elected to office passes citizenship and eligibility with it? What a novel concept!!!!

I was slack in my judgement of you....you are really just a confused person without any critical thinking skills at all.

You are absolutely, 100 percent correct. And what goes for this bastard CINO (Conservative in Name Only - Worse then even a RINO) goes for every sitting Republican. They all voted to seat an usurper, violating a basic eligibility clause of the Constitution. A Constitution they couldn't care less about.

The Tea Party, however worthy, isn't going to “save” us - No third party has ever, or will ever succeed. As those of us who understand the totality of the economic and political straits we are in say, “We are so screwed”.

Reversing what has happened (which is both the result of over 50 years of social and ethnic change in America, and the welfare policies created by Republicans and Democrats, without changing the underlying base of the population is impossible. Add onto that the current unbelievable rate of success for Obammer and his Marxist victories....Our debt, never can be repaid, our taxes will now forever increase, immigration, especially illegal will continue unabated. The private sector will be completely socialized.

No Republican is going to change that. Not that they would want to. But they can't. No power can once these changes past a certain point.

You have your faith in Jesus.
I have mine in guns.

Many here will fall in with the sheep when the time comes to drive them to market.

No, you are dealing with script the obummer marxists created for you. Rules of Alinsky. Reality is that obbummer is a fraud, but you as Krauthammer and all other loser Republicans are afraid of creating that script and forcing the Democrats to answer.

The marxists know they can whip you at will so they do.

That, unfortunately, is the “reality”

Some widdle boo need a hug.

That you have to resort to bitchy, little spoiled girly name-calling (don't much like it back at ya, do you?) proves you are in a conspiracy theory world of your own making.

You enjoy yourself in your cellar while Karauthammer spreads the word that will actually help defeat Obama. Meanwhile you and your ilk look like loons and make it easier for them to say "Those who oppose us are all kooks!"

Obama thanks you for making his life easier.

somewhat true, but it was the “Greatest Generation” returning from WWII (my Dad, Batan Death March survivor included); that took the seeds that Roosevelt planted. A sense of entitlement...the GI Bill and then retirement on the scam of Social Security, collecting far more than they ever paid into. (yes actuarial misforecast but the facts are the facts).

Government payments exceed for the first time private wage (a spike but illustrative)

We are now a nation of slackers. In capitalism to receive work without pay is a “sin” because it is a complete loss to productivity...a black hole.

In American, today, it is a right. What was good for welfare pimps and public housing queens (have an illegitimate baby and you get your own free unit), is now a “right” for everyone. “foreclosure prevention” bailouts, stimulus for cities...

Problem is no one is creating wealth anymore, which is necessary for government to take a slice to pay for these entitlements.

As wealth decreases, government must take bigger slices. As capitalism sputters under the slacker load, government ownership will increase.

Wealth creation will now be under control of government and you will “work” when and where they tell you.

Republicans in office want to be “in charge” of this as much as Democrats.

As Pravada has noted we have become more communist then Russia (though it has its own brand of thuggism)

“to be paid and not to work is a sin” Ann Rand would agree?

Yes by all means stay within their script. You continue being a good marxist follower, you seem fit for that role.

I know your type and when the time comes for action, you will fold.

We need to completely clean the House and the Senate - INCLUDING getting rid of the dirt that remains in the corners.

Yes, and we need to implement warp drive technology today by deeming it so. Your statement is neither possible nor desirable.

FWIW

It's worth nothing.

on any given day, Dems and 'Pubbies are interchangeable in the Congress, any state legislature, or local government.

That's a provable lie. Simply by reviewing the hundresds of party line votes where the Rs align with your positions will reveal that.

There are squishy Rs and Ds, but the Ds usually terminate theirs.

The RINOs need and deserve to be excreted and flushed, but there are conservatives in there banging their heads against the wall and you want to throw them out.

But....it seems more and more people would rather have the gov’t take care of them and vote in politicians who make promises to them.

I still remember the woman filmed on YOUTUBE who was over-joyed at the fact that with O in office she wouldn’t have to pay her mortgage or car payment.

The Joe the Plumber moment was a big ‘tell’. And the O still won.

From the article:

“It’s fine to recognize the achievements of others and be non-chauvinistic about one’s country. But Obama’s modesty is curiously selective. When it comes to himself, modesty is in short supply.

“It began with the almost comical self-inflation of his presidential campaign, from the still inexplicable mass rally in Berlin in front of a Prussian victory column to the Greek columns framing him at the Democratic convention. And it carried into his presidency, from his posture of philosopher-king adjudicating between America’s sins and the world’s to his speeches marked by a spectacularly promiscuous use of the word “I.”

“Notice, too, how Obama habitually refers to Cabinet members and other high government officials as “my” — “my secretary of homeland security,” “my national security team,” “my ambassador.” The more normal — and respectful — usage is to say “the,” as in “the secretary of state.” These are, after all, public officials sworn to serve the nation and the Constitution — not just the man who appointed them.

“It’s a stylistic detail, but quite revealing of Obama’s exalted view of himself. Not surprising, perhaps, in a man whose major achievement before acceding to the presidency was writing two biographies — both about himself.”

“I am the president.”

“My [secretary of state],” etc.

“Office of the President Elect.”

And let’s not forget the Oaf of Office on January 20, 2009:

“President TO the United States” — per Chief Justice John Roberts
