Sarah Palin: Americans Must “Learn From (Reagan’s) Mistakes” On Illegal Immigration
mediaite.com ^ | July 10th, 2010 | Frances Martel

Posted on 07/11/2010 9:32:45 AM PDT by GonzoII

Sarah Palin made an appearance on The O’Reilly Factor last night to test her mettle on one of the biggest issues in the political sphere today: illegal immigrants. Bill O’Reilly grilled her on specifics to finding a solution to the problem and, in her responses, Palin made it very clear that immigration may be the one substantive issue around which she has a tight grip. Palin was adamant that illegal immigrants should not be “rewarded the bad behavior” and continued along in this vein until O’Reilly stopped her, in a very similar manner to how he stopped Univisión anchor Jorge Ramos in a debate earlier this week, and asked for concrete reactions to the problem. Palin responded that she would like all illegal immigrants to register and that, in an ideal situation, “you deport them. you have to get them out of here.”

...snip

Palin then tried to harken back to the days of Ronald Reagan– who was in favor of amnesty– and O’Reilly once again challenged her. “He botched it,” O’Reilly told her. Surprisingly to some, she agreed.

Last night’s segment below:

” Lay off the personal attacks and who she endorsed. If you don’t, we’ll be ringing your doorbell.”

Your tagline says it all. I will never cast a vote for Palin after reading your post.

And no, I won’t get used to it with Obama or Palin.

You best get thinking. If amnesty is granted in the next 2 years, you candidate would have no prayer of getting the Oval Office. These will be newly minted Dem voters. All of them.

Illegals are not the Hallmark of our country.

I work on the immigration issue 7 days a week and have done so for the past four years. I lobby on the Hill and in Richmond. I don't get paid for it. However, I do know the issue far better than you do. Wake up and smell the coffee. This isn't about Reagan, it is about the survival of this country.

So I have a question for you....What happens if we build the fence (a Duncan Hunter fence. A good strong triple layered fence), fine employers that hire illegal aliens, take all social services away from illegals, and enforce the guest worker laws already on the books? Do you think the illegals would naturally leave or do you think we would still need to manually deport them?

We have empirical evidence that attrition thru enforcement works. The 12 to 20 million didn’t get here overnight and they won’t leave overnight. If we can prevent further illegals from entering on a mass scale, the problem will take care of itself. I see no urgency in attempting any large scale deportation. And we can address individual problems on a case by case basis. The choice is not between a blanket amnesty or mass deportation, which is how the pro-amnesty types like to frame the issue.

“WTH is that supposed to mean? You’re going to come after me if I don’t fall in lock-step with Sarah???”

It’s a figure of speech (your doorbell on the forum). Chill out!

If you or others continue to make personal attacks on Palin or continue your relentless droning McCain BS, then be prepared to belly up to the bar and take your medicine on the forum. As I said before, if you can keep the debate on her views, that’s fine. I see that other PDS personalities are coming to your defense, but I believe you can take care of yourself.

You are a cowardly hypocritical bully.

You ping your little Palinite zombies and you all attack together using the same tactics ad nauseum 24/7.

But alicewonders and other people “can just take care of themselves”.

scurrilous behavior on your part

“You are a cowardly hypocritical bully.”
“scurrilous behavior on your part”
“ping your little Palinite zombies”

I’m glad I brought out the real you; you just reinforced what I said about those of you with PDS. Awfully thin-skinned there, aren’t you. Scurrilous actually applies to those of you with PDS - trying to damage Sarah Palin’s reputation. “Cowardly and bully” - your vocabulary needs some work. Is that similar to a stupid genius?

BTW, I don’t “ping” ANYBODY on FR - never have and don’t plan to in the future. Unlike you PDSers, I don’t need anyone to speak for me. And as for as zombies go, you PDSers must be Stepford wives to the Obama regime, parroting Palin hating diatribe.

Y’all like to dish it out against Palin, but when it comes back at you, you go off the deep end. Be careful not to drown in your balderdash.

This invasion is the fault of political hacks like JOHN MCCAIN!

Monday, July 12, 2010

McCain: “America is still the land of opportunity, we’re not going to erect barriers and fences.”

HELLO ARIZONA!!!! You’ve made us proud with your stand against the tyrannical Obama Administration and open borders and your willingness to enforce our immigration laws!

But you’re making the same mistake you’ve made for 24 years...you are believing lies.....
The never ending stream of lies from John McCain and his supporters.

Indeed, Sen. McCain has been on the stump in Arizona of late, telling everyone how he supports SB 1070, how he wants to ‘secure the border’ and is against ‘amnesty’.

HE IS LYING, again!!! Stop letting this man use you!

How SOON we forget! But you better remember HIS WORDS!

*“America is still the land of opportunity,” Senator John McCain recently said. “And we’re not going to erect barriers and fences.” June 26, 2007 National Review

*SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, R-ARIZ.: I do not favor using troops because they are not trained for it. They don’t have the kind of qualifications necessary. I have strongly favored us using all the technical equipment that our military has including satellites, including aircraft and other technical means. May, 2001

*McCain continues to be well, McCain, throwing out liberal lines to catch the unsuspecting. Here he promises to push the failed Kyoto treaty.

“I am committed as President to pursue the efforts to reduce greenhouse gasses immediately. That includes joining Kyoto as long as we have India and China involved. It would not be fair to the planet to say the two largest growing economies who are greenhouse gas emitters are not part of it.” April, 2010

*On the ‘View’: Meghan McCain Blasts Tea Parties
Sen. John McCain’s daughter says the movement is filled with “innate racism.”
Does ANYONE think Meghan isn’t doing her father’s bidding???

*On the 2008 campaign trail: McCain had been asked how debate over the immigration bill was playing politically. “In the short term, it probably galvanizes our base,” he said. “In the long term, if you alienate the Hispanics, you’ll pay a heavy price.” Then he added, unable to help himself, “By the way, I think the fence is least effective. But I’ll build the goddamned fence if they want it.”

* May 29, 2003 interview: McCain: “Amnesty has to be an important part because there are people who have lived in this country for 20, 30 or 40 years, who have raised children here and pay taxes here and are not citizens.“

* Dec. 15, 2000 press release: McCain: ”I support the Latino and Immigrant Fairness Act (LIFA). Negotiations between the White House and the leadership, which endorsed more limited immigration reform, have resulted in a compromise.... this bill makes meaningful but insufficient progress on amnesty for those wrongly denied it.“

*Q: Should we change our Constitution to allow men like Mel Martinez, born in Cuba and Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, to stand here some night as candidates for president?
McCAIN: He and I have many similar attributes, so I have to seriously consider it.
Source: 2007 GOP primary debate, at Reagan library, hosted by MSNBC May 3, 2007

*McCain: “ Those who live closest are the ones who can get here. Everyone in the world should have the opportunity through an orderly process to come to this country.”
Source: AZ Senate Debate, in Tucson Citizen Oct 16, 2004

*McCain attacked Proposition 106, an Arizona statewide referendum that was being advanced by the so-called English-only movement. McCain told the teachers, “Why would we want to pass some kind of initiative that a significant portion of our population considers an assault on their heritage?”

*McCain was one of 10 members of congress who were honored by the National Council of La Raza, a nationwide coalition of Hispanic organizations. In a speech at a ceremony in Washington, before an audience of 500, McCain again attacked English-only initiatives. “The building of our great nation is not the work of immigrants from one or two countries, McCain said, ”Our nation and the English language have done quite well with Chinese spoken in California, German in Pennsylvania, Italian in New York, Swedish in Minnesota, and Spanish throughout the Southwest. I fail to see the cause for alarm now.“
Source: Man of the People, by Paul Alexander, p.122-123 Jan 19, 2004

*McCain actually said this just a few weeks ago.
“President Reagan granted amnesty to two million people and that was wrong,”

*This may be the ONLY time John McCain told the truth.
John McCain 2008 Prez election: no amnesty for illegal aliens could lead to France-style riots

...The man wasn’t satisfied with McCain’s answer. He asked McCain why the U.S. couldn’t execute large-scale deportations, as he had heard they did in France and other countries. The question seemed to pique McCain.
“In case you hadn’t noticed, the thousands of people who have been relegated to ghettos have risen up and burned cars in France,” McCain said. “They’ve got huge problems in France. They have tremendous problems. The police can’t even go into certain areas in the suburbs of Paris. I don’t want that in the suburbs of America.”

McCain, the “maverick,” has been in Congress for 28 years, or since winning his first election in 1982. He is no longer fighting the establishment; he is the establishment. He personifies the compromise wing of the Republican Party, which has since become the dominant wing.

He’s an EMBARRASSMENT!

“The thought of [John McCain] being president sends a cold chill down my spine”Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), also a senior member of the Appropriations panel, told the Boston Globe recently. “He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.” Washington Post

Capitol Hill staffers rate their bosses.
Worst Follower 2. John McCain (R-Ariz.)

Show Horse 2. John McCain (R-Ariz.)

Hottest Temper 2. John McCain (R-Ariz.) known to snap at staff when the cameras are off
___________

And this....THIS bothers me the most. John McCain has no loyalty to Arizona or this nation. He is a globalist first.

McCain 3/2009:
“I could imagine, with a little envy, what it must have been like for the McCains who came before me to be so connected to one place; to be part of a community”

“Did you watch the whole segment? Unfortunately she came through with a full McCain position. The only illegals she was in favor of deporting were those who failed to register for, well, amnesty. She went through the usual waffles, first trying to focus only on the border, then saying that illegals couldn’t just stay here ‘free’, and finally conceding that she was for allowing them to stay and work, etc.—as long as they registered for it.

I give BOR (regularly not my favorite at all) kudos for getting her to nail down her position—as disappointing as it was.”

Yes, I saw it too. You summarized it well.

She’s right, Reagan ( God Bless him), did botch it. But to be fair to him, it was Congress, and subsequent administrations, that reneged on the deal.

And for the umpteenth time; she does does NOT support amnesty.

No, your problem is that you cannot handle the real problems created by Palin herself that bother many people. The things people bring up here, contrary to the accusations of Mittwitt, Paulistas etc from you folks, are not dem talking points. People here do not go along with personal attacks on her character or persona.

You think that your group of Paliphobes have answered to all and done decided that she gets a pass.

You can play that game on FR but it will be a real issue in a campaign. Some will accept the down pat excuses and some won’t.

Get used to it. Palin has to get by line of GOP contenders before she becomes the nominee. Don’t fool yourself that the things others say here will be ignored in a primary campaign.

If she gets by that and gets the nomination, you will explode because you live in a Paliobubble.

Buck up

You're the one that needs to "chill out". No one here said anything at all that could possibly be construed as a "personal attack" against Sarah Palin. I myself, even said I would vote for her over a liberal.

I absolutely took your threat as ringing the only doorbell I have - on my front door. You're not doing Sarah any favors by talking to people like that. Really.
