Just came back from my ninth visit last saturday.
I have NEVER seen it so quiet.

Not really. When the ball got rolling it was almost all American. As it picked up it drew some from California but mostly from Oklahoma, Florida, Tennesssee, Missouri... Anyone who was worth a damn was a foreman in months and had his own business in a year or two. The goofballs, drunks and druggies bounced from job to job until there was no one left to hire them and then they went home.

As it picked up speed the illegals grew slowly from around 10% to 20 and then 30. From then on it was like a vacuum pulling them in. From 40% to 60 took about a year.

I'm a contractor in southern California. I have personally witnessed the occaisional instance when the INS has come on to construction projects. When that happened the Mexican workers scattered like cockroaches. Why would they run if they were legal? If California has the problem it just stands to reason so does Nevada.

When this story was presented on Fox News they quoted the Pew Research study that revealed Nevada leads the 50 states in having the most ILLEGAL aliens in construction.

I stayed two weeks to visit son and granddaughters. The Las Vegas community isn’t the same. It’s a depressed area with foreclosures on every block, unemployment, closed businesses, lack of tourists. I was very sad to see, I have no desire to go back other than to see family

Why would they run if they were legal?

Years ago I was on Goldwater's Arrowhead Ranch (orchards) when it was raided by Immigration. About half of the workers took off into the orchards. They split up and climbed trees, hid in culverts, jumped the highway, and crawled under the sheds. The other half just stood there dumfounded.

The immigration guys jumped out of their white pickups and took off after the runners. After a while they began coming back with two or three or four Mexicans each in tow. Meanwhile the Mexicans who stayed kind of melted away into the background. Most got in their cars and drove home.

Turned out that every Mexican that they caught had a Green Card. They were all legal. The illegals who had stayed and then walked away were home free. Pretty slick and all planned.
