Border authorities inspecting cars heading into Mexico on Saturday discovered a cache of ammunition and weapons, including five machine guns, hidden inside a Nissan, according to officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.

I'm sure the smuggler bought those at a local gun shop.

Was this poor, benighted man just clinging to his guns and Bible, or was there another motive?

Bet those weren’t machine guns. Probably just semis that looked like they could be machine guns. LA Times reporters wouldn’t know the difference, and if they did, they’d lie about it anyway.

Aside from a very few legally registered and transferable machine guns that are worth thousands of dollars to collectors, there’s simply no supply of machine guns in this country.

You could smuggle them in from other countries, but then, why smuggle them into the U.S. first rather than directly into Mexico? Or, you could manufacture a machine gun by converting a semi-auto. But again, why risk doing that here in the U.S. rather than doing it in Mexico instead? Only morons would smuggle into the U.S. or make illegal machine guns and then smuggle them into Mexico.

Guarantee you that these were not machine guns and that the LA Times is simply lying. I would love to see the original press releases from the border agents.

Some moron posted this in the comments section,

“This is yet another example of how the U.S. exports violence to our neighbors to the south. It is our nation that is responsible for all of the mayhem that is occuring south of our border, it is our country of so called casual drug users that creates the demand for the illegal narcotic trade, it is our country that is supplying all of the weapons and ammunition to these cartel gangs. As an American citizen I am ashamed and I take responsibilty for all that we do wrong, unlike the masses who continue to shift the blame elsewhere. If u have ever taken or tried drugs, if you have ever shot or owned a gun then look in the mirror, it is your fault too.

“including five machine guns, “

First, customs reports show most weapons coming into Mexico are shipped from Venezuala.

Second, are they really “machine guns?” Leftist writers are stupid and would call a seed broadcaster a “machine gun.”

Finally, look for BATF fingerprints on the weapons. I wouldn’t put it past those government-sponsored terrorists to stage incidents like this.

This is the second set up story in as many weeks.

Since when are US authorities charged with security for Mexico?

Which of course were purchased at Gun Shows in California. ;)

Heck even DoD contractors in CA need hard to obtain special permits to even think about firing full auto weapons. Which has caused some issues with testing devices designed to be mounted on such weapons. In one case they used Hollyweird rifles, which use different blanks(lots more flash), and a different method of keeping the gas pressure high enough to cycle the weapon. Needless to say, tuning the devices to detect firing of such Hollyweird weapons resulted in none optimum operation, read FAILURE, when the devices were mounted on real M-16s, M4s, etc.
