apparently the National Weather Service now feels compelled to issue special warnings that heat will be "excessive" when it flirts with 90 in late July!

I’m not going to give this report any merit until I hear from Al Gore.

Al’s too busy trying to take care of his second chakra to worry about global warming right now.

It’s predicted to be 92 in Mid-Ohio Sat & Sun, but the forecast I use tends to be conservative, and I’m thinkin it’ll hit the mid to upper 90’s. Me, I’ll be inside with the AC, and watching a couple of ‘Foyle’s War’ DVDs, and other online Netflix content. Haven’t had a “Nuthin good on TV” Saturday, since I joined! ;o)

We are supposed to have 110 degree heat index this afternoon. I did all my chores before 9:00 AM.

90? Shut up! It’s been flirting with (and making it to) a 100 for over a week in North Texas, with heat indexes around 105. Northeasterners need to quit whining about the ‘heat.’ We get no such ‘warnings’ in Texas.

I’m from NY originally but in N. Tx since 80’s. Last 2 weeks I visited up there and the locals complaining of excessive heat. NY summers are a cakewalk compared to the Tx oven scorchers.

An amusing observation........in the winter northerners laugh at us southerners when we go into panic mode when we are faced with the possibility of a few inches of snow or ice. It's only fitting we get to return the favor in the summer when they get warnings of temps climbing (gasp!) into the 90's for more than two days straight. Anything less than 95 degrees and less than 70% humidity between now and mid-September around here would be considered a cold front. LOL!

We get no such ‘warnings’ in Texas.

I've been surprised a lot this summer when the little Weather Channel icon on on my toolbar starts blinking like crazy. If I click on it, I find that it's alerting me about a heat advisory for north Texas.

I have very fond memories of Pittsburgh and people there. It's a great city and usually quite comfortable in the summer.

Yes, in recent years we have had very few 90 degree days here (though I remember many when I was younger).

Had one summer in Ohio in the 80’s where the thermometer flirted with 100 just about every day in July and August with nary a drop of rain. Somehow we all survived.
