Canada Recovers Almost All Jobs Lost in Recession

"Employment rose by 93,000 in June, pushing the unemployment rate down 0.2 percentage points to 7.9%. This is the first time the rate has been below the 8% mark since January 2009. Employment has been on an upward trend since July 2009, increasing by 403,000 (+2.4%). These gains offset nearly all the employment losses observed during the labour market downturn which began in the fall of 2008. The June unemployment rate, however, remained well above the October 2008 rate of 6.2%, due to a large increase in the number of people in the labour force over this period."

This doesn't surprise me, with all of those Canadian built Camaros, Challengers, and Caprices I see riding around.

The middle graph is shocking. Amazing Canada has cut government spending by 10% of GDP. The only time I have seen cuts like that are after wars. /src on/After Zero gets done the US can now claim the US is more socialistic than Canada./src off/.

Do the Canadians calculate their unemployment rate the way we do? If so, they’re still in trouble.

Seems like Canada didn’t export all the jobs that we did.
Obvious answer - PRODUCE MORE, IMPORT LESS

This works for me in Opera, Firefox, Konqueror and Chromium, all in the Linux operating system.

I was unable to try it under IE because my machines all run Linux only. Linux does not have IE because it is a Mircrosoft proprietary that runs only on Microsoft operating systems. Opera, Firefox and Chromium all have Windows versions.

Not to mention all the Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas. Both companies are expanding their manufacturing capacity here.

Similar methodology- the labour force consists of everybody who is either working or actively seeking work, and active job-seekers are counted as unemployed. One reason that the rate hasn’t gone down much is that a lot of people who had given up last year are now looking for work again.
BTW this last recession is the first time in my lifetime (perhaps the first time in the history of this country) where our unemployment rate was lower than that in the USA.
