The lie is on purpose. The socialists (including their propaganda outlets like CNN) see this as war, and therefore outright lies, cheating, distortions, misrepresentations are perfectly fine and effective weapons to use. Even moral, as far as they are concerned because they’re fighting a greater “evil” - freedom.
