Friday August 13, 2010Urban Oufitters Pulls Planned Parenthood Condoms
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, August 13, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - One day after parents were asked to contact Urban Outfitters and object to its sale of Planned Parenthood condoms, the youth-oriented retailer has ceased its online sale of condoms. The product page explained that the web-exclusive condoms are "no longer available," a message the American Life League reports was confirmed by an Urban Outfitters representative. Condoms have a typical-use failure rate as high as 36 percent among teens, and Planned Parenthoods condoms scored at the very bottom in a 2005 Consumer Reports trial of condom effectiveness. The original Urban Outfitters Web page for the condoms, found in the "toys & novelties" section, billed them as a "safe bet" and noted that proceeds would "support advances in reproductive health." Urban Outfitters' media relations department did not respond to a request for comment from LifeSiteNews.com as of press time. The company owns and operates several retail clothing brands, including Anthropologie, Free People, Leifsdottir, and Terrain. American Life Leagues Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP) project celebrated the removal of the condoms. Thank you to all the parents who took the time to contact Urban Outfitters and to the folks at Urban Outfitters who took immediate action to discontinue selling the condoms, said Rita Diller, STOPPs national director. A recent CDC study shows that most teens are sexually abstinent. The rise in the number of sexually abstinent teens and the downturn in teen pregnancy rates coincide with the availability and popularity of abstinence speakers and educational material. Parents and consumers can make a difference when they let their voices be heard, Diller said. |

Maybe this bum brand ought to be renamed the “Unplanned Parenthood” condom....
Remaining inventories should be liquidated at special blowout sale prices.
To be fair, Consumer’s Union didn’t put the items to a very scientific test, to see if they’d be likely to leak “stuff” under conditions mimicking actual use. At the very least, they could have entertained some randy chimpanzees bent on making little chimpanzees, to see how well the product would frustrate this goal. Instead they puffed the product up, dry, with air until it burst, deeming those which achieved the largest size before bursting to be the best. IIRC, IMHO, and all the standard disclaimers.
naw, they fail by design. How can they have abortions without a high failure rate of contraceptives?
“Urban Outfitters” selling condoms?
Once again, The Onion has a tough time keeping up with reality

I like the flashing ping! Really got my attention!
As I recall, Planned Parenthood's responded by using "exciting new packaging" and marking. Remember, they make their money through abortions.
