Before Obama, the president of the Harvard Law Review was the most outstanding law student. Because no black student had held the position they changed the rules and he was the beneficiary. Reportedly during his stint as president he did very little work--left that to the second-in-command and just dropped by from time to time.

I recall during the Presidential debates in 1992 that Bill Clinton said "I" in one of those "so-and-so and I" sentences where "me" was the grammatically correct form to use. Of course no one called him on it because he was a Democrat, and because most journalists probably didn't realize that he had used the wrong form.
