Oh my: New lefty ObamaCare message drops promise of cost-cutting, vows to “improve” law

I’m going to go ahead and accept this as an answer to the question I posed earlier. Why, yes, it was indeed insane to think that ObamaCare would be a boon to Democrats in the midterms.

This one’s for you, Missouri!

Key White House allies are dramatically shifting their attempts to defend health care legislation, abandoning claims that it will reduce costs and deficit, and instead stressing a promise to “improve it.”…

The confidential presentation, available in full here and provided to POLITICO by a source on the call, suggests that Democrats are acknowledging the failure of their predictions that the health care legislation would grow more popular after its passage, as its benefits became clear and rhetoric cooled. Instead, the presentation is designed to win over a skeptical public, and to defend the legislation — and in particular the individual mandate — from a push for repeal…

Well, look at the bright side - they could just have claimed that without ObamaCare the costs would be even higher. Just like their arguments about unemployment, recession and everything else go... It’s so bad with Obama and getting worse because without him it would be plain awful.

That's all the Republicans will do if they take control of the House and Senate. They will "improve" the HealthCare law. Then when they have a majority of the House and 60 in the Senate and the presidency they will still not repeal the thing because since they "improved" it they will be proud owners of it, not to mention that they will not do anything to cost any government employees their jobs.We elect good conservative Republicans to Congress and within 20 seconds of their seating they are not Republicans any more. They are faux Ruling Class, faux because the Social Democrats are the proper Ruling Class and the Republicans recognize that, even when the Republicans have numerical control, they pussyfoot and dither because they feel that whatever they do is somehow illegitimate.

Repeal it and resign. Of course they will do neither. it's just a pre-election promise. Post election they will go back to being Libtards. Just like John McCain.

well said arthurus. I’ve often felt that Repubicans want to lose because they are in government and like when government wins (and the people lose) George Bush never really tried to fix things like Social Security. His heart just wasn’t in it. <- That being made glaringly obvious after Laura Bush wrote a book.

Wow!! Wow!! Wonder of wonders!!! Obamacare is going to be another federal boondoggle that costs a fortune!!! I could have told you that ages ago!!! I literally begged Democrats not to vote for Obamacare. I begged them to force Obama to resign or impeach him. They laughed, scoffed, and bad mouthed me. But, now they are longer laughing. I warned them that Obama would destroy the Democrat Party, that he would set back American Blacks into the dark ages. I warned them that Obama hates America, as does his wife Michelle and would attempt to destroy the country. Well, my Democrat friends, November 2, 2010 is coming, and so are we the people. The unemployment line awaits you foolish idiots!!!

You nailed it, sir. The Republicans cannot be counted on to repeal this monstrosity. It’s a shame.
