For several decades, they have been financing new mosques in the Middle East and outside the Middle East. They also finance a lot of madrassahs, particularly in Pakistan.
With the money spent on the mosques comes a unspoken financial committment - namely that the new mosques will spread the Saudis form of militant Islam, Wahhabism.
The man at the center of this controversy is a pawn. A well-intended and blindly naive pawn. Most religious leaders who get religious centers built, do not use their own money, but the donations of supporters.
This 'man' wants to build a religious and educational center to help integrate Islam into the US in a peaceful way.
He won't find out about 'their' plans and the weapons, planning meetings, etc., until it is too late. And that is 'by plan'.
