Absolutely devestating news to hear this morning. Crushed. John was absolutely a Patriot of the highest order. He will be more than missed on FR. He was an institution himself. God bless his soul and thanks for loaning him to us while you could. Amen.

So sorry to hear this news. He was often at the Clinton Freeps, and spoke eloquently behind the microphone. He was intelligent and certainly opinionated. I was happy he was on our side. I remember having conversations with him several times. He spoke of his country home, (on a mountain, as I remember).

I also remember thinking I had never met anyone quite like him. Still haven’t.

This is a loss. Condolences to his family.

This is very sad news. John posted an article on his cancer treatment this Monday.

From the article, one wish of John's:

Changing subjects abruptly, part of the goal of my surgery was to be ready on 12 September to March down Constitution Avenue with 38 of my fellow citizens, dressed as the signers of the Constitution. I get to be Ben Franklin. There should be about a million Americans there. I hope the American press might even notice and cover that event.

John and his wife Michelle married in summer 2008, and a nice article from the New York Times told their story.

I'm further saddened that, despite having helped him in 2008 with his campaign, I never got a chance to meet John in person. He was very active in events all over the state.
