Kelly surges despite Palin road bump
Politico ^ | 21 August 2010 | JONATHAN ALLEN & KASIE HUNT

TUCSON, Ariz. — No one will ever accuse Jesse Kelly of bringing weak tea to the party.

The conservative 29-year-old Marine combat veteran and tea party favorite made waves this week when a video of him criticizing Sarah Palin's endorsements of "people who will sell our principles down the river" surfaced and caused a stir.

The brief moment of national notoriety notwithstanding, Kelly is surging at the end of the 8th District GOP primary campaign here, largely on the strength of an impressive grassroots organization and a cocky, free-wheeling style that contrasts sharply with that of the more measured, more disciplined former state Sen. Jonathan Paton...........

"Believe me, if my goal was to get on the Armed Services Committee, or Ways and Means or any of these other great committees you need to be on, then we'd be in a lot of trouble," he said. "My goal is to have my country back and to have a government that leaves me the hell alone and I don't want anything else. And I'm not there for the next cocktail party, and I'm not there to make a bunch of friends. I'm not there to go along with liberalism. I'm there to fight liberalism. That's what I'm going there to do."

And BTW, the earmark kid will soon be in Boot Hill finished off by Capt. Queeg, so you AZ RINO-itis sufferers make plans to support the libtard DemCrap in Nov. Stay out of that Mojave Desert sun. It can make you delirious.

Actually, in Phoenix, we're talking Sonoran desert.

I'd love to know what the nearly famous Barry Young, and Bruce Jacobs, are saying about the JD vs McCain race; and what they made of Palin's endorsement of McCain...

Cheers!

Har! So you're another one of those simple mice who is disappointed that Sarah Palin isn't the disloyal, backstabbing ingrate you think she should be? Good grief, sometimes this place is embarrassing. You've been around here a few years - - I expected better.

FRegards,

All you keyboard warriors on here crack me up ...

You all keep promising a revolution if Obama does this or that ..He does it and where is your revolution ??? No where to be found ...

Instead of your promised revolution you call Palin a RINO.

Well I got news for you ...Palin is actually doing something and putting herself out there attacking Obama every day in a more aggressive manner than any other Republican or Tea Party person out there ... She is actually not just talking or typing as in the case of you keyboard warriors, she is doing something and yes showing more balls than any male member of the republican party or more than any of you keyboard jockeys.

All you keyboard warriors actually would fit in at Daily Kos quite well. The left hates her just as much as you guys do ...

Either the Free republic has been infested with undercover lefties posing as palin haters on this site, or the free republic is in serious danger of becoming irrelevant politically.

Because I got news for you if Palin and Sharon Angle dont pass your purity test than you are going to become a very very very small little exclusive group that will not have anywhere near the numbers to make any kind of impact politically ...

I think Sarah Palin has single handily kept the Republican party and made the tea party relevant. She gave the tea party legitmacy and she put it on the map. You guys lose Sarah Palin and the tea party and the free republic become totally irrelevant.

“Waiting for the Palin Kook-Aid drinkers to accuse the combat-vet Marine of being a RINO/McRomney supporter.....”

Don’t you have that backwards? Usually it’s pro-Romney types who bash Palin supporters as kooks...

Oh, and yes, I understand that Sarah endorsed a couple of RINOs. I understand that Arizonans would rather vote for Levi Johnston than John McCain. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, here. Palin had to repay McCain for making her a national figure, and she’s made one or two bad calls since. I think reasonable people can like her and Kelly, too.

BTW, I’m voting for John Thune in 2012.

I watched the videos and I don’t believe he was all that critical of Palin. He didn’t like her endorsement of Fiorina (he understood Palin sorta had to endorse McCain) but he did say that he would vote for Palin.

That’s not strong criticism. That’s disagreement on an issue.

Much more was made out of this than was deserved.

he did say that he would vote for Palin.

He wasn't properly worshipful when he said it.

Sarah Palin isn't the disloyal, backstabbing ingrate

Except to conservatives. She learned that from her mentor.

You should watch the Kelly video. He wasn’t attacking Palin or Palin supporters. He was making a controlled criticism of what he saw as poor judgment on her part. You should learn from that, and be more like him. We’ve all got to work together this year, and in coming years, even if we differ on which candidates to support.

You seem way to eager to pick fights with “those evil Palin supporters”.

Some of us our not that evil. Give us a break, please.

According to you.

However, he did say he would vote for her.

So does that make him one of those Evil Palin Supporters?

I think it does.

You should watch the Kelly video.

I did, unlike some of the hysterical Palinistas calling him names. His thought-crime consisted of not being in 100% lockstep with them.

I guess there are a few people around here who are over the top in their posting on the subject of Palin, both pro and con.

Most of us here in FR are more thoughtful, both pro and con.

I urge you to be more thoughtful and not lump all Palin supporters together in your mind, with the model being some kind of Nazi goosestepper.

Do you accept the fact that many of us are not Nazi goosesteppers? Do you accept the fact that we are in the majority of Palin supporters?

Why not calm down and talk to us, instead of directing every single one of your posts to this imaginary creature who haunts your waking thoughts?

Most of us aren’t like that.

I already told you I support Palin and I watched the Kelly video and I don’t see anything there but legitimate disagreement with a position that Palin took, namely the Fiorina endorsement.

If things go well this election, there will be a lot of young, new faces in Congress...on the conservative side. That will be a good thing in more ways than one.
Kelly was referring to those new faces in the video.

Mrs.Palin is not perfect but I support her and if someone supports someone else who is not a Leftist,I respect that and if your man or woman wins the nomination they will get my vote.
I agree.
