Pelosi on thin ice as economy's woes mount

WASHINGTON • It is a sign of how bad things are for Democrats that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's best shot at keeping her job come November is to lose no more than 38 seats in Congress.

At 39, Republicans would take control of the chamber, and Pelosi would hand the gavel to Republican leader John Boehner and almost certainly face a coup attempt from within a demoralized new minority.

Control of the House is "on the bubble," said Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia's Center for Politics. He now projects that Republicans will come up just short, but cautioned, "We're going to be revising that all the way to Nov. 2."

Political forecasting models can predict elections based on one factor: the economy. On that issue, the news keeps getting worse for Democrats. The economy is in a serious stall, with unemployment stuck at 9.6 percent and economic indicators turning south almost across the board.

You can revise that all the way to November 2012 for all we care.

I think we all know that Sabato plays for the Democrats and anything he says should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

If Pelosi takes a back bench seat and Reid steps down, the dems could hold on to more seats.

I dream of the day she has to take a regular flight home instead of her flying palace. Just one of the many rewards of kicking her out of her leadership...

The recession began 11 months after Pelosi was sworn in as Speaker.

When Pelosi was sworn in as Speaker, the deficit was $130 billion. Now it’s more than 10 times that level.

IF is ends up being only 39, it will only last for a day before one of the RINOS are bribed to jump ship with the promise of all sorts of candy and goodies from Piglosi.

The mere fact that she continues to wake up each morning is a clear refutation of the concept of "karma".

Should she booted out, watch for a LOT of sideline-sniping. Dimocrats are notorious for such infantile behavior.

Charlie Cook is the one to watch - he's the gold standard when it comes to national-level political predictions.

Sabato's a hack, the only reason why he's even on the national stage is because his textbooks are usually the ones used by highschool and freshman undergrad polisci classes.

This needs to be pinned on every Rat running for Congress in Nov. A vote for them, no matter who they are, is a vote for Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker of the House again.
