How Lisa Murkowski (might have) lost
Washington Post ^ | 25 August 2010 | Chris Cillizza

Posted on 08/25/2010 9:50:48 AM PDT by tgdunbar

. . . She was urged by senior leadership at the National Republican Senatorial Committee to go negative on Miller in a meeting two months ago but rejected that advice, insisting that attack ads were not how politics were conducted in Alaska, according to a source familiar with the gathering.

By refusing to define Miller early on in the race, Murkowski gave away her biggest advantage: money. (On Aug. 4, Murkowski reported $1.86 million in her campaign warchest; Miller had just $84,000 in the bank at that time.)

As the votes were being counted, Miller gave full credit for his lead to Palin, the half-term governor of Alaska whose endorsement put him on the national political map. "I'm absolutely certain that was pivotal," he told the Anchorage Daily News. And, Murkowski, put the blame for her potential loss at the feet of the former governor, saying: "I think she's out for her own self-interest. I don't think she's out for Alaska's interest." . . .

Joe Miller’s win will make the entire night worthwhile.

He’ll give the US Senate some genuine class and integrity.

I am also very pleased with Allen West’s victory.

Lisa lost because she is a RINO,,,, exactly right.

I never liked her when she was a state legislator in Anch. All she talked about was social issues, womens issues; I thought to myself,, and she calls herself a conservative?

I was pissed when her dad gave his daughter the seat, nepotism at it's finest.

I watched her crawl up Obama's behind over the last year and thought: Might as well have a dem in there as her.

Ya know, average Alaskans who are registered Repubs are quick to say the heck with the established Repub Party, usually vote for AIP which is ultra conservative. Now the Tea Party will benefit from their support thru Palin. Alaskans still trust her more than anybody else, they know her record of accomplishments since the early 90's and know she is for real.

Lord, Fox is letting Dem Party operative Larry Sabota back on their network.

The DNC operative who secretly worked for Jim Webb while doing his slanted predictions on the VA senate race !

I'll wager that he's not the only one crying.

Ah, but his tears are among the very sweetest. ;)

>> Various FRee Republic pro-Mittens/pro-Shucksabee trolls hardest hit." <<

Actually, Huckabee endorsed mostly the same candidates Palin did in yesterday's primaries (Marco Rubio, Daniel Webster, Joe Miller, Trent Franks, etc.)

Can't say the same for "true conservative" Fred Thompson. After the Fredheads told us how wonderful he was for endorsing Doug Hoffman, it turned out to be a one-time event and Fred was out-to-lunch this election cycle.

Of course both Sarah and Fred endorsed John McCain over J.D. Hayworth, and cut radio ads and robocalls for him. That's one race where Huckabee wisely avoided endorsing McCain.

Huckaboob went for McCollum in FL. Sarah remained on the sidelines. Huckaboob did not endorse Pam Bondi, the winner for AG in FL.

She did go negative and in the process ran an ad that ended up shooting her in the foot — big time.

Here’s hoping we can retire Snowe and Collins in 2012 and 2014.

I second that!

She did go negative — read the politicO article on it, I posted the link last night, very interesting read and probably had more than a little to do with her loss.

Huckaboob, much like his dwindling store of supporters, labors under the delusion that his endorsement is genuinely worth something. ;)

Does this mean we can now call Obama the half-term senator from Illinois?

Lisa Murkowski is a rotten lying corrupt b!**h.

The day before the election she used an ad that featured Dan Fagan a supposedly “conservative” Anchorage radio host going OFF on Joe Miller calling Joe a liar.

BUT, Fagan cut an ad of his own where he stated that Lisa was using his clip without his permission and that he SUPPORTED JOE MILLER.

Murkowski is part of the PROBLEM not part of the solution.

The last remaining votes will be the village votes and they always break liberal.

The last posted division of elections results are time dated 03:56 AKST.

So it’s “hanging chad” time in the Greatland.

Lisa isn’t a RHINO she’s a crypto demonRAT.

May the almighty Lord please allow Alaska to lead the way in the taking back of the feral gooberment!

GO JOE!
