Soldiers Going without Necessities???

Afghan outrage: U.S. troops scrounge for blankets, bullets 'One of my soldiers went without ammo for 5 weeks'

The parents of an American soldier in Afghanistan have accused the U.S. government of leaving defenders of its freedoms without basics such as blankets, food, feminine hygiene supplies and even bullets, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

"One of my soldiers went without ammo for five weeks once they got to Afghanistan because of shortages. I can't reveal the name, because they are frightened of reprisals. If they can do what they did to a four star general like [Gen. Stanley A.] McChrystal, what would they do to a buck private?"

That comes from a woman who, with her husband, has taken it upon herself to adopt soldiers and provide them with many of the needed basics.

The woman insisted that her name not be used, because of the possibility of reprisals against her or the soldiers.

But she told WND she received a report that a U.S. soldier bought a $15 knife "and slept with their hand on the handle in the waist of their pants because it was all they had for the moment to protect themselves."

The woman confirmed she and her husband are involved in supplying the basic necessities for some 50 soldiers – because the military isn't.

"If the military doesn't supply what they need, they must depend on family or people like me," she said. "Many of these families are struggling on low wages, some parents are on disabilities and unable to help. Sending a box once a month during their deployment is not only good for their morale, but they need (to be) resupplied with many items."

This is extremely disturbing. Anybody know if this is true? If so, is this criminal negligence or a sign of a coming national bankruptcy?

From my experience with my son, I would not doubt it for a minute.

The election of this administration, in addition to both houses of Congress being in the hands of the Democrats, was the worst thing the Americans could have done to their own military. For shame!

Wow!!!!!!!!!! If we can’t even manage to keep them up with ammo, get them the hell out of there NOW!!!!!!!

Maybe we should started embedding CONgressmen and Senators in the field with our guys. I have a feeling shit like this wouldn’t go on for very long.

HOGWASH!

“ONE of my soldiers went without ammo for 5 weeks.”

During one operation in Vietnam we were unable to get resupplied for a while because the enemy ground fire was so intense. I was a radio operator, so I didn’t fire my M-16 much.

After one 3 day running firefight, everyone was running low on ammo. I had about 120 rounds left SO WE DIVVIED UP THE AMMO BETWEEN US!

ONE soldier will not be low on ammo. Men share when things get really tight.

GWB used to visit with the troops often. Remember that surprise trip he took to Iraq for Thanksgiving one year?
The sham Bam is quite the opposite and doesn’t give a rip about our troops.

Did this "buck private" have a squad leader, a platoon sergeant, 2LT, Captain...??

Who in their right mind would wander around a combat zone for 5 weeks without ammo without bringing it to someone's attention? And what kind of platoon/company commanders would rely on unarmed soldiers?

It's either BS or a derelict soldier.

It is something to be concerned about, but which really requires verification. The position of our people in Afghanistan looks distressingly like that of Uriah the Hittite at times.

As a soldier, I would want CARTRIDGES, not mere bullets.

This is ridiculous. The Commander should abandon his position, and pull back to an area WITH provisions, if this were true. Not even combat knives? Give me a break. Where did they all go?

Sounds like BS to me too.

And it's WND.

I'll ask my son about this. He's 11Bravo, but state-side right now.

That's why women should not be in the military.

If you have never gone there before, visit anysoldier.com. While the troops would not be requesting ammo on there, a brief read will convince you that supplies can run short. Anysoldier.com features troops who write in requesting assistance with necessities and other items. We send to many, and all are grateful. They ask for food, hygiene and clothing items, reading material. They want to know that we have not forgotten them and their mission. You can make a huge difference!
To the point of whether or not this is intentional, several opinions exist. At the very least, the AOR is a big area with hazardous terrain. Supplies require aircraft delivery in many cases, with weather, insurgents and costs always factors. Priority goes to life-saving and war-fighting supplies. Restocking pxs is second. Read the posted requests-you will get a pretty good idea of status. But-yes, elections have consequences and so do defense budget adjustments.
