US church to go ahead with Sept. 11 Quran burning

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A Christian minister said Tuesday that he will go ahead with plans to burn copies of the Quran to protest the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks despite warnings from the top U.S. general in Afghanistan and the White House that doing so would endanger U.S. troops.

Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center said he understands the government's concerns, but plans to go forward with the burning this Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the attacks.

It's not OK for some religous nut-job to burn Korans....

Yet it's OK for the US Military to burn Bibles?

I’m not saying I agree with what the Church is doing, you want to call them idiots, I don’t have a problem with that, they probably are.

My point is at the same time, we should never allow this to pass for a legitimate excuse for so-called Moderate Muslims to hate us even more, for the acts of some small church in Florida. If that is what puts them over the edge, I have to question just how “moderate” they are.

And by pointing out this event, all Obama and Petraeus did was to give them the publicity they desired, and made sure now that everybody in the Muslim world knew about it, whereas if they had kept their traps shut, it probably would have wound up being a fart in a windstorm, and few would have even noticed.

Folks, this is an example of someone being able to state something unchallenged.

If you have to deal with libs who make statements like this, gently but firmly demand that they define the terms they are using -

in this case “of WHAT exactly, are Muslims tolerant of?”

or, in other cases, “exactly what do you mean by ‘socially responsible’?”

What if they believe that book is written by Satan? It teaches that people are apes and pigs and teaches to kill and lie and treat women like dogs. I have to say that I think his point is actually very rational.

It is interesting to me how governments and military personnel are begging for “respect” for that book when the Bible is used for toilet paper, not only by muslims, but by our government who endorses it with taxpayer money.

List of government endorsed (taxpayer money) and respected actions:

Museums getting money to present works which promote images of crucifix in urine....dung and porn on the Virgin Mary.

Taxpayer money used for promotion of islam, even in foreign countries and taxpayer money for building of mosques.

Textbooks for children which demonizes Christianity and glorifies Muslims and Wicca.

Nonprofit status creating a speech straightjacket on all Christians and Jews, but with no effect on (marxist)Black Liberation theology churches.

NPR promotion of homoerotica which demonizes Christianity and orthodox Judaism.

Government endorsed “hate speech” which gives special protection and money for promotion to anti-Christian groups like homosexuals and muslims and La Raza and Black Panther groups but silences Christian speech.

Etc., etc., etc.

I just find the “outrage” so fake and so misplaced when we were a thoroughly Christian-Founded country and we allow extreme defilement of the Bible and Christianity every day in the media and schools. Interesting.....

It's nothing but an internet meme that "this will put them over the edge".

The presstitutes were using that exact same phrase regarding the protests against the Ground Zero mosque just last week.

Same excuse, different "controversy".

It sells well to followers of the UN, where Islamist nations believe that there need to be speech controls to prohibit blasphemy against Islam.

Someone else stated that they should announce that they aren’t actually going to do it,

but only announced that they were in order to expose the intolerance and extremism that IS Islam.

The man is not behaving like a Christian. He is behaving like a nazi.

I agree with your first position, but not the second. Burning a few books in protest against a religion of death and hatred is hardly comparable to the burning of millions of books in an effort to rid the Germans of all information that contradicted the politics of the Nazi party.

Nope, this pastor is one of those who wears his religion on his sleeve and refuses to recognize the religion of pieces. He has been doing all sorts of things to tweek them for years out of this little church. What’s ripe is the muzzies threatening to kill us . . . . . again.

It was enevitable that somewhere along the long road we have been on since 1978, somebody would stand up to them and make a case for the contradictions of their humanity within the text. It just took this pastor of a 50 member church to be the one. Will his act change things overnight? Nope but the seed will be planted.

I have a great idea, how about the "Yule Koran", for Ramadan. Like the Yule Log but with a perpetually burning Koran and Hadiths, with close-ups of burning pages of such wonderful classics of the religion of peace and tolerance, such as...

"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)

"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. (Surah 9:121-)

"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers" (Surah 48:29)

Those who say: 'The Lord of Mercy has begotten a son,' (Jesus Christ) preach a monstrous falsehood..." (Surah 19:12-, 29-, 88)

“You will indeed fight against the Jews and you will kill them to the point where the rock and the tree will say: ‘O Muslim! O slave of Allaah! There is a Jew hiding behind me. Come and kill him.’ (Surah Al-Baqarah: 120)

...and many other wonderful favorites!

I don't believe that there is a nexus between burning the Koran in Florida and violence in Afghanistan other than the reactions of psychotic killers. That is a cause and effect I don't accept as legitimate because I don't believe in pandering to sociopathic forms of insanity.

Give in on one demand from a psychopath and there will be another demand right on its heels. It sure doesn't sound like good military strategy to give ground to the enemy on the basis of their emotional state of mind.

(I have no comment on the wisdom of a church engaging in actions like this.)

I don't believe that there is a nexus between burning the Koran in Florida and violence in Afghanistan other than the reactions of psychotic killers.

If there is it lacks the severity of a sitting US senator (Kerry) stating publicly that our troops terrorize innocent women and children or of a sitting US representative (Murtha) stating publicly that our troops kill innocent civilians in cold blood.

And Sen. Kennedy's comments about our troops or Sen. 0bama's comments about bombing and killing indiscriminately. Those are serious incitements to violence against our troops.

I guess I watch too much Military Channel. I thought the military had some specific role in dealing with killers and training to handle it.

Let's get this straight ~ it's not just in the "vicinity" of Ground Zero. This spot is PART OF GROUND ZERO and holds a building which was the final resting place of the undercarriage and an engine from the plane Mohammad Atta was in.

It is the last big building still standing at the sacred site.

The intention of the Moslems is to complete Atta's attack by tearing down this building.

I think we would need to burn every single last Koran in America to make up for this particular outrage ~ and with the requisite number of Islamofascists bound, gagged and tossed into the flames.

These people really have no sense of the idea that other people have rights in their own nation!

If that preacher needs someone to come p!ss on them first, let me know.

The Nazis exterminated millions of people in order to have a master race dominate the world......this guy in Florida is burning paper.”

Comparing this guy to a Nazi is lunacy. The Mohammedans were experts at genocide long before Hitler came along and they’ve enslaved, raped, murdered, tortured and destroyed more than the Nazis ever dreamed of. Hitler admired Islam to a degree due to its warrior nature and there were many good Muslims in the Balkans as well as the ME aligned with the Nazis.

Churchill referred to Islam as the greatest retrograde force in history for good reason. Islam is a pagan death cult and the driving force is the writings of a madman contained in the Koran and Hadiths.
