You have described an "Islamist".
It is extremely important to know the difference between an "Islamist" and a "Muslim".
See Post 188.
"Islamists" is to "Muslim" as "the Spanish Inquisition" is to "Catholic".
All Islamists are Muslims but the large majority of Muslims are not Islamists.
Insulting all Muslims, including our Iraqi and Afghan allies that are fighting with us against the Islamist nutjobs, is as senseless as attacking all Catholics in order to lash out against Irish Republican Army terrorism.
An Iraqi Army soldier and U.S. Army soldiers from Delta Co., 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment stand guard during a joint patrol in Mosul,
Very good points you make. I was trying to think of a similar analogy.
I am against Obama’s policies. Code Pink is against Obama’s policies. He is too liberal for me and too conservative for them. I am not anything like Code Pink.
The church of Acts burned their own books that they had used in defiance of God. After they became Christians they burned the books as a testimony of their changed hearts.
I doubt this demonstration has similar motives.
I have heard reference to this small congregation or vanity church having held up book burnings of bibles that didn’t meet their denominations standards before. Apparently they were claiming that non-King James Version bibles needed to be or were to be burned.
They couldn’t get any media traction and everyone locally knew them for who they were.
So now this Phelps supporting church has the Mosque controversy to gain attention and they come up with burning Korans. Talk about attention trolls.
I would be interested if anyone can verify the allegations made by conservative radio hosts that these guys were on a previous Bible burning agenda.
I agree.
Plus it knocks Obama’s response to the Ground Zero Mosque off of the front pages.
I read it. Aren’t most of the new mosques and prison imams Wahhabi’s?

Are we "singing in the chorus" with Code Pink?
Not even close.
Oh yeah! I made a good point. :)
That was an act of symbolism of their own repentance, and was guided by the Holy Spirit.
This act is no such animal. The comparison is not valid.
Also, Hindu’s oppose the Muslim Jihad.
So I guess our opposition to Jihad makes us all Hindus.
We are Code Pinking Hindus who love Obama.
Thanks! I am tired of seeing this Scripture used out of context to support the actions of this church.
They have every Constitutional right to burn the books. I don’t think it is wise and is NOT Scriptural.
A more apt description of me, there never was. ;)
Think of all the times Scripture is taken completely out of its context, and stripped of its original intent to make a political point.
It is bad practice.
(There are probably a few people who couldn't find the book of Acts in a Bible and have never read it before, who are now using it as a political weapon, and probably a few right here on this forum....)
“Why?
It is symbolic. It hurts no one”
Perhaps the govt. (left-wing or right-wing) should have big bonfire-book burning rallies and burn every book they don`t like.
Oh, by the way, the koran probably doesn’t have a proscription against penetration of a child if the child is not muslim. Infidels are no more than cockroaches to them. Keep your children close.
When there is actually a fire.
You win a cookie.
*grin*
I'm not a Baptist, but I would like to defend Baptists and other Christians from being tarnished by this Phelps stuff. When are the media ever going to notice that Phelps not only isn't Baptist, he doesn't even call himself Christian?

What does Fred Phelps actually believe? It is, somehow, even weirder than you expected:
[From the link above]...In fact, it appears that Westboro has created not just an incredibly vulgar and non-Christlike approach to homosexuality, but that it's working on a new religion altogether, complete with new scriptures.
Members of WBC generally avoid the name "Christian" when referring to themselves, preferring the mysterious term "Tachmonite."
The Tachmonites believe Phelps is "the last prophet," with the power to determine who will be damned and who will be saved. They themselves, as followers of Phelps, also have the power to condemn souls to hell. Most people are destined for hell, but "Good Samaritans" who help the Tachmonites (for example, police officers who prevent counter-protesters from assaulting them) may be offered an indeterminate "reward" for their good conduct.
They've written their own scriptures, which are divided into two categories: "delectable epics" and "letters to heretics." The "delectable epics" (the term is the group's) are based loosely on Acts in the New Testament. The epics detail the Tachmonites' various protests against gays, President Bush, Elton John concerts, and the military and portray the Tachmonites alternately as invincible "super heroes" and defenseless victims of brutal rage. Some of the epics are in prose, and some in poetry. [And there's more...]
History repeats itself. Only a small fraction of Germans were members of the nazi party ,yet thay controlled the actions of the other 95 % . 80% of all American mosques are funded and controlled by Saudi “Islamist”. These “allies” we have in Iraq are allowing Christian churches to be burned and Christians are being forced to leave the country.
Our goverment make a big issue about a few korans being burned here , but says nothing about hundreds of churches being burned by islamic terrorists in the mideast.
The burning of the koran is very similiar to the Boston Tea party, Citizens trying to wake a nation up .
