This is a Pastor that may not be doing as Jesus taught; but is doing exactly as I feel. Why do we have to cower in fear from Muslims, yet we must celebrate ‘Piss Jesus’ (An artist’s bottle of urine with a cruxifix in it) or a painting of the Virgin Mary done in Elephant dung?

Comedy Central censores South Park depicting Mohammed; yet has no problem insulting every other religion. They can devote entire episodes mocking Catholics, Mormons or others - but they are cowards when it comes to depicting Mohammed in any manner, shape or form.

The NEWS channels are too cowardly to show the cartoons done in Holland that depict Mohammed wearing a turban with a fuse coming out the top.

The muslims can burn Bibles and trample our flag - but heaven forbid we do something that insults them.

Having watched (or tried to watch) a video of a 12-year-old boy cutting the throats of three Christians in Indonesia (one of them a 3-year-old),

and seeing the celebrating by the adults with him;

(think also of Danny Pearl, a Korean captive in Iraq, and many more)

I find it hypocritical (as well as impossible) for anyone to get upset about someone burning a Koran.

Where is the Vatican’s statement on the Ground Zero Mosque, AND where is the Vatican’s statement on the Greek Orthodox church’s building permit on the Ground Zero location?

The pastor at Dove church should instead plan a service with ceremonial honor killings, beheadings, rape of 9 year olds, slave trading, and car bombings. He could call it “Islam Cultural Awareness and Celebrating Diversity Sunday.”

The Vatican speaks to Catholics, it is not Catholics making the move to burn the Koran. I do find it twisted though that they try to equate the acts of 911 with the burning of a book.... "cannot be counteracted by an outrageous and grave gesture against a book considered sacred by a religious community.".

While I can understand the Generals position trying to keep soldiers safe I disagree it is unpatriot to burn the book. Like the Vatican he is overstating the case to try to avoid the gruesome outcome that may be the Islam way

Having said all of that, Terry Jones (the pastor) strikes me as a publicity-seeking con man who apparently supports the nutjobs of Westboro baptist church.

We could use a better frontman in defending the West against Islam, a role the Catholic Church had historically done but, due to internal weaknesses and muddled post-V2 thinking, has abdicated that role.

You're completely right. I mean, heck, not even 100-200 years ago, you had Catholics burning Protestant tracts and bible translations in the U.S. because of the false teachings contained therein.
