Rackspace has no obligation to not impede a subscriber's freedom of speech.

They claim they shut the website down due to a contractual violation. But even if they decided to shut it down for no good reason at all, the subscriber likely has no recourse.

The contract usually says: we'll refund your subscription fee for the time you didn't use. You won't get anything else. Even if we shut down your e-commerce site due to factors beyond or within our control, we aren't responsible for anything but the subscription fee.

Rackspace is publicly held. Investor Relations can be emailed here: ir@rackspace.com

IR people respond to reasonable appeals to their sense of subservience to the whims of the investing public.

How many more before it’s too late? How many more before someone takes a stand?

How so?

The guy is merely verbalizing what MOST Americans feel.

You really think it is perfectly okay to pull services because a customer publicly states his opinions.....that is the EXPRESS PURPOSE OF A WEBSITE AFTER ALL!

A private company canceled the service, as was their right. The First Amendment doesn't apply.

O puhfreaking leeze. everyone knows they have a right to do it. What they need to be told is how pitifully cowardly an act it was and how they'll lose business as a result.

When Imam Obama tells you to stop doing something, you must obey or suffer the consequences.

Free market. Dove dude can find a ISP that will host his stuff.

Not a issue of free speech.

No, it's not a free speech matter.

It is, however, a tort. Dove was relying on and paying Rackspace to put his site on the internet. They deliberately took it down without warning at a particularly inopportune time. Dove should sue them, both for money and to call attention to the fact that they are not proper Americans.

Depends on the terms of service for the ISP.

Private property, ie like FR. You[I] don’t have freedom of speech on FR. No difference.

We’re living in the Twilight Zone when Muslim offense is considered more important than any other. :(:(:(

That door was opened years ago when "hate crimes" were created to punish some crimes more severely that others.

Maybe they figured they'd lose more business if people found out they were hosting this bozos website?

The Hosting is specifically built to host OPINIONS.

Does everyone have their head up their backside?

This "bozo" is the biggest thing to come down the pike since Jesus.

‘to host OPINIONS.’

Then HE will find a ISP that will support his view. That one will not honor it. It’s that simple.
