(Imam) Obama asks for end to anti-Muslim sentiment (When the Muslims quit blowing people up!)

The president calls for a renewal of religious tolerance and a cooling of tempers as he attempts to defuse the furor over plans to build an Islamic prayer center and mosque in New York and threats to burn copies of the Koran.

As a candidate, Barack Obama passionately defended the importance of religion in his life and in the nation's politics. As president, Obama on Friday called for a renewal of religious tolerance and a cooling of tempers against Muslims as he tried to defuse the furor over plans to build an Islamic prayer center and mosque in New York and threats to burn copies of the Koran in Florida.

Obama, a Christian whose Muslim name inflames some of his fringe opponents, didn't have to get involved in either dispute. But because of his responsibilities as president and commander-in-chief, Obama said he did.

"This country stands for the proposition that all men and women are created equal; that they have certain inalienable rights -- one of those inalienable rights is to practice their religion freely," Obama said.

Whatever religion he may be hes never been anything resembling Christian. I’m not saying a president needs to be but dissembling ones religious background for political gain is low.
Yes,you’re correct he has a history of covering Christian symbols.

Tolerance is a two way street. Since when have the followers of Islam been tolerant of other religions?

Who said they got to be tolerant? If acting muslim is a "right," we got to let them do it.

That is exactly what I hear the undocumented president saying.

If opposing islam in its present form for the rest of my life makes me a bigot, I intend to wear the label proudly; and militantly. For me the issue is settled and debate is not an option.

FUBO.

The Muslim leader in Pakistan called on Obama to proclaim himself the “Head Calif” of the new worldwide califate on 9/11. Maybe he’s working up to it.

The crazy thing about all of this is how the leftist have actually convinced people that “for the most part” Islam is peaceful.

I used to think so to, but a first hand experience changed my mind completely. I was a college ESL instructor and I had several muslims in my class. During class discussions, they always painted themself so moderate. They would argue with the stereotypes, and insist that most muslims were not like the radicals that did terrorism.

Well, around that time is when Rushdie’s “Satanic Verses” came out and a student from Holland mentioned it in class. All of the sudden the anger in that room was palpable - and one “moderate” student stood and told me that he hoped that Allah would give him the honor of cutting off this man’s head in front of his wife and children, and then doing the same to them. The whole group of them agreed and started shouting and things were really getting out of hand so that I had to cancel class and call in security.

Moderate, my patootie. That wasn’t the first time I saw the Moderate/Radical about face either. I saw it among some of the faculty too when these subjects came up. It was unnerving to say the least.

It angers me beyond belief every time I see these images. More so than because every foreign country in the world, including the most primitive ones, were able to see the images as the atrocity unfolded.

Except for us Americans, of course.

What was the foreign source of those images?

Well, I couldn’t agree more with what you are saying. As an atheist, I don’t care what your religion is (unless you are a Shiite Muslim, maybe). But obfuscating it or lying about it to suit your unknown political agenda or aspirations speaks VOLUMES to low character.

And character speaks everything to LEADERSHIP. I think we are all learning that ‘political party’ is becoming more and more irrelevant to the the integrity and character to lead the American people.

The people least acquainted with leadership are the most eager to achieve political power. We have had a dearth of leadership since the days of Reagan.

That's "Head Caliph" as in Caliphate.

For those who don't know, a caliph is a Muslim ruler.
