Hit with a speeding ticket, most drivers usually slow down.
But not everyone.
A guy returning from the Gorge Amphitheatre after a Dave Matthews Band concert Saturday night got two speeding tickets within hours of each other.
And the State Patrol troopers in East King County who tagged the man for going nearly 20 mph over the speed limit on Interstate 90 wouldn't have known he'd been ticketed earlier in Kittitas County had the man not boasted about it on his car.
"One speeding ticket 2 Dave $113," the man had written on his back window after getting the first ticket. "Seeing DMB at the Gorge PRICELESS."
"He was so excited about having seen Dave Matthews, he didn't seem to mind that he had been stopped a second time," State Patrol spokeswoman Christina Martin said.
It's pretty unusual for motorists to be ticketed twice in the same day or even on the same trip, Martin said.
"Most people get ticketed and they slow down at least that reminds them for a while," she said.
The man was one of some 85 speeders stopped during a two-hour period Saturday as part of the state's recently launched "Slow Down or Pay Up" campaign.

One has to question the intelligence of some Dave Matthews fans.

Is he? I never followed his music or listened to him speak, at least not that I’m aware of.
I only recognize the name because one of his tour bus drivers dumped his sewage tanks while driving over a Chicago river bridge and there was a big stink about it.

Not defending the DMB fan but.... this state is impossible to travel in without seeing troopers everywhere. I’ve lived here all my 55 years and have never seen this many patrol cars policing the roads. A month ago I went to Seattle via I90 and counted 9 trooper cars in 50 miles. Cars pulled over everywhere.
Not calling it fundraising but it makes you wonder why the emphasis now. Didn’t it matter before.
Just a warning to those traveling our roads in Washington.

His music blows. Sounds like Hootie and the Blowfish. Just tedious grabage.

Not calling it fundraising... Might as well call it what it is, for the most part.

Cops making sure their bloated pensions are funded. Figure a way to screw taxpayers at every turn.

At least he wasn’t dumping the sewage from his motorhome
while going over a freeway bridge, like Dave Mattews did!

I once got two speeding tickets within a week of each other ~ at the time, my daily commute was two hours ... each way. That schedule sucked; unlike Dave Matthews, who rocks. I think it was the same summer that I got my two speeding tickets that I saw DM live for the first time. Their studio music is okay, but the live performances are incredible.

In 70 mph zones set the cruise control for 78 and 99% of the cops will never blink twice at you.

Used to be that you could pretty much stay out of trouble as long as you were less than 10 mph over the limit on the interstate. But the last time I got a ticket, I noticed that the fine was based on being more than 10% over the speed limit. So if you're in a 60 or 65 mph zone, that doesn't leave you very much wiggle room.

I’m just wondering how this is even considered a news story.
