Imam: Palin on mosque was 'disingenuous'; controversy exploited

The imam behind a mosque project near Ground Zero said in an interview that "certain politicians" were exploiting the controversy.

The imam behind a mosque project near Ground Zero said in an interview aired Sunday that "certain politicians" were exploiting the controversy.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf told ABC's "This Week" that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's assertion that that mosque was an unnecessary provocation was "disingenuous."

"The discourse has been hijacked by radicals on both sides," he said, adding that protesters in the U.S. and protests in the Muslim world "feed off each other."

When asked whether he would consider relocating the mosque, the imam said, "The decisions that I will make will be predicated on what is best for everybody."

He said if he had known such controversy would be sparked by the plans he never would have done it. He said his main concern with moving it now is sending the message to the Muslim world that Islam was under attack in America, thus fueling radicalism.

"It is an extremely important consideration," he said. The imam said that he wasn't making any such threats, but that he is "a man of peace."

No, a lying, hustling Muslim instigator with $9K put back is disingenuous.

If the purpose of this Mosque is to "promote tolerance and understand" as this faker claim, he would move it since the vast majority of New Yorkers oppose it being built here. There is a Mosque 5 blocks away, there is no need to build this one here.

That this faker refuses to do so shows this is all about the symbolic nature of the location and nothing else.

Hell, this Muzzie issued a clear threat himself this past week...

Ground Zero Victory Mosque Imam Issues Threat: If You Don’t Build It “They Will Attack”

He doesn't think that THAT is a provocation?

This imam’s past statements show just what disingenuous means. This man is an enemy to this country and this mosque has all the markings of being nothing but the radical Islam that dominates the religion. You can’t get past the fact that this man has made provocative statements and to tie any sort of opposition to this mosque to being responsible because, once again, the radical dominants are threatening and will be violent proves the point. Always making excuses for the murder and mayhem.

I just love to watch the cockroaches scurry when the truth is revealed.

Interesting choice of words there, Imam.

LIKE ONE COMMENT ON THE HILL'S SITE POINTED OUT:

He complains about Sarah Palin's statements and then goes on to say that it was his bad judgment that started the whole controversy. No Ground Zero mosque plan no words from Sarah. What part doesn't he get?

Palin was one of the first prominent leaders on the right to take a stand against the Quran burning. Her reasoning under the First Amendment- ‘just because you can doesn’t mean you *should*’, was the same consistent reason that she gave for opposing the GZM under the circumstances.

Imam Rauf, OTOH, issued a veiled threat of violence if he didn’t get his way on the issue (in addition to using the same term ‘radical’ to define 70% of the American public as Islamic terrorists)...

Who’s being disingenuous here?

Spout all the rubbish you want, mr imam.

It won’t change the fact that truth is your eternal enemy.

It’s not true just because I say it. This is proven by the fact that, like the socialists, you can never come out and say what you really think.

There’s only one side which can speak its mind. Think about it.

A Muslim, whose faith specifically authorizes lying, complains about Palin being “disingenuous”?

The irony is thick enough to walk on.

Islam Delenda Est - because Islam forces us to do it to them.

Sure is...on CNN, ABC...all friendly softball outlets sympathetic to the cause. They gave him that hard-hitting sharpie Larry King at CNN - Larry probably thought he was interviewing Santa Claus or Wilfred Brimley. Let's see the guy sit down with Bret Baier.

The decision will be made by the moneymen behind the project. ...probably Saudis.
