[Print] [Email] Gangster government stifles criticism of Obamacare
Washington Examiner ^ | September 13, 2010 | Michael Barone

"There will be zero tolerance for this type of misinformation and unjustified rate increases."

That sounds like a stern headmistress dressing down some sophomores who have been misbehaving. But it's actually from a letter sent Thursday from Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to Karen Ignagni, president of America's Health Insurance Plans -- the chief lobbyist for private health insurance companies.

Secretary Sebelius objects to claims by health insurers that they are raising premiums because of increased costs imposed by the Obamacare law passed by Congress last March.

She acknowledges that many of the law's "key protections" take effect later this month and does not deny that these impose additional costs on insurers. But she says that "according to our analysis and those of some industry and academic experts, any potential premium impact . . . will be minimal."

Well, that's reassuring. Er, except that if that's the conclusion of "some" industry and academic experts, it's presumably not the conclusion of all industry and academic experts, or the secretary would have said so.

Sebelius also argues that "any premium increases will be moderated by out-of-pocket savings resulting from the law." But she's pretty vague about the numbers -- "up to $1 billion in 2013." Anyone who watches TV ads knows that "up to" can mean zero.

As Time magazine's Karen Pickert points out, Sebelius ignores the fact that individual insurance plans cover different types of populations. So that government and "some" industry and academic experts think the new law will justify increases averaging 1 or 2 percent, they could justify much larger increases for certain plans.

Kathleen Sebelius gets her marching orders from Obama....neither I suspect, have a clue as to the extent how disabling Obamacare is to Insurance Companies, making it nearly impossible to do their jobs with even a modicum of success.....Obama wants them lost to history and us doing a darn good job of removing those companies from America.

This is all rather ominous and carries even more meaning if O "swings further to the left". I was reading a few minutes ago on the Fox News web site about a UK kid being banned forever from coming to the USA for a Email to O. His crime? He called O a prick. Hummmmm, what punishment waits in the wings for me when I regularly refer to him as an a-hole and worse in internet postings??

I have sent Emails to the White House which, while not obscene, are less than complimentary. Reeducation camp must at least be a fantasy of those in power.

Sounds like they want the insurance companies to go bankrupt rather than tell their members the truth about how much Obamacare really will cost? Analyst under Obama seems to mean “fantasy”?

Just her way of setting prices for the insurance companies. Under communism, commisars (now called CZARS) ran factories and set prices.

How dare you speak against the Glory of the Liberal Messiah! Now get on your knees and say fifty Our Father Who Arte In The White House, followed by seventy-five Hail Michelles!

I will always back real Americans over the current government. The Obama Regime is not friendly to American values, so I’m cheering for the insurance companies on this issue. If the rookies in our White House want to cry because they’re being blamed for the damage they are doing to our country, they can go ahead and cry, but they can’t censor the free speech of American businesspeople who are providing a service that the public wants at a mutually acceptable price (a price that is going up because of the socialist legislation).

Am I the only one concerned about the connection between the Obama “End of Life” care commissions (or the Death Panels as Bill Gates would say) and the re-implementation of the inheritance tax ... or as I like to call it ... the Death Tax?

Really, we’re gonna give the power of life and death over to a Government entity that will PROFIT from the deaths of our richest and most productive elders??
